Cub Bats Go Silent, Fall 7-2 To Orioles

Posted by Billy Daniel on May 04 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
Cub bats were largely silent on a Friday evening game against the Orioles and the result was a 7-2 loss to the NBLL Orioles. Largely silent but not completely silent as Marcus made a LOT of noise with an impressive display of power hitting, muscling out 2 home runs to account for the Cub's scoring. In the 1st inning, with no one on, he lofted a high fly out over the left field fence. Happy with that result, he decided to do it again, crushing another long fly ball over the left center fence. Way to go, Marcus. The season is half over and our 2007 Cubs have already passed the entire home run total of 3 established by the 2006 edition with 5 thus far. Unfortunately, those 2 bombs, along with singles by Vince and Cabell, were all the hits we could muster, which paled in comparison to the Orioles 9 hit assault. On the mound, Vince threw 4 innings, struck out 9 and issued 0 walks. Our defense was shakey behind Vince with a total of 3 runs that scored being unearned. Josh finished the game getting a strikeout and issuing 1 walk. Next game is Saturday against these same Orioles.
