Cubs End Season In BIG Way, Take 10-0 Decision Over Royals

Posted by Billy Daniel on Jun 08 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
The Cubs ended their 2007 season today the way they started it, with a 10-0 victory in a game shortened by the 10 run rule. Story of the game...Relentless hitting from everyone ended this one early while the combination of Josh and Parker on the mound shut down the Royals with only 1 hit. Offensively, Marcus led the 13 hit parade with his 4th homer of the year and also added a single. Wyatt added two doubles, Will had a double and a single, Miles smashed a double, Robey had 2 singles and Cabell, Vince, Josh and Anthony all chipped in with their own singles. On the mound, in his first start of the year, Josh got the win by pitching 2 innings, allowing only one hit (a weak little hit that just barely stayed fair down the 3rd base line) walking none and giving up 0 runs. Parker finished off the game by throwing 2 innings of no hit ball in his first appearance on the mound this year. In the field, Robey led the way with two consecutive putouts from 2nd in the 3rd, Wyatt played a tough first base, Miles was solid behind the plate and Vince had a couple of plays at second that he easily converted to outs. There was also another sighting of the very elusive and rare left handed combination on the left side of the infield in the 2nd as Will was at SS and Vince at 3rd. So, with great team play and some superb individual accomplishments, the Cubs completed the 2007 Fleet Park Major season at 17-4, winning the NBLL Major crown and finishing second overall in the race for Fleet Park supremacy. Thanks to all for a great season.
