Red Sox take first game of Second Half

Posted by Doug Richter on May 12 2009 at 05:00PM PDT

The weather didn’t look like it was going to let the Red Sox and Cubs play on Monday night, but it held off and allowed the Red Sox to return to their form of the early season and walk away with a 10-1 victory, improving their overall record to 4-3. On this night, the Red Sox took control of the game early as they scored 4 runs in the first inning. Solid hitting by Jake Frazier, Connor Love, Spencer Chupik and Tyler Richter gave us an early cushion that helped us jump to the early lead. The Red Sox defense continued to make solid plays in the field as David Molaison, Jay Sellers, Saylor Green and Jack Harley each made stellar defensive plays.

Since his game winning hit against the Nationals, Pearce Landfear has been on a roll at the plate. On this night, Pearce went 3-3 with solid hits in the gap during each at-bat. Pearce’s confidence is soaring as we head into the second half of the season.

Michael Zanti played very well behind the plate at the catcher position while Sam McCrary continued to shine in each position he is challenged with.

Next up for the Red Sox, the Cardinals; Saturday at 4:45.
