Red Sox come out of break with BIG 12-6 WIN!
The Red Sox answered the call on Friday night with a big win against the previously undefeated Mets. After a 14 day layoff, the Red Sox were in action on a beautiful Friday night for a contest between two good teams. The Mets grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but their rally was cut short by some fine defensive plays, and Jake Frazier cut the Mets down with a fantastic play at the plate to end the inning. The Red Sox came back in the second inning with some clutch hits by Sam and Saylor and took the lead 2-1.
The Red Sox broke things open in the 3rd inning with four consecutive hits by the top of the order; Jake, Connor, Michael and Tyler. All four batters scored and the Red Sox took a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the 3rd.
Again in the 4th, the Red Sox bats were alive, and the highlight of the inning was a blast by Connor Love that cleared the bases. Connor tried some aggressive base running, but the Mets made an outstanding relay from deep centerfield and made a perfect tag at the plate. But Connor was credited with triple and 2 RBI's in another big inning where the Red Sox grabbed a 10-3 lead.
The last two innings were possibly the best defensive innings of the game where Jake Frazier, now at shortstop, was like a vacuum cleaner. Everything hit his way became an out. Line drives, fly balls and grounders all found their resting place in Jake's glove. His defensive gems led to a final score of 12-6, and the Red Sox improved to 2-0 on the season.
Next game, Saturday morning at 11:30 against yet another outstanding team, the Athletics.
