December 18th, 2006 Mighty Lion Open Update
We did finish 8th this weekend with 79points. The top 7 teams were as follow:
1.St. Pauls 213
2.Comeaux 159
3.Brusly 146.5
4.Lafayette 127
5.Northside 104
6.John Ehret 89
7.Teurlings 86.5
8.St. Michael 79
There was a minor glitch in the scoring. Zach Braud did not end up as our point man somehow and we did not collect his 16 points. With those 16 points our team score is 95 and we climb to sixth place. In addition we were missing kids in 4 weight classes (119,125,130, and 189). If we could ever fill all of our weight classes we would be a real threat to the top 3. I know that it was tough for our team as we had to travel early to make the tournament. I appreciate everyone being on time Saturday morning. In addition due to work issues I was unable to attend. Coach Patla, Coach Hernandez, Coach Tommy and Coach Brock did a great job. Top performers:
103 Ben Willeford 4-1 3rd place loss was to #1 Treven Delaune (Ehret)
112 Landon Carr 2-2 one loss to #2 Anthony Lacava (St. Paul)
135 Zach Braud 4-1 3rd place loss was to #1 Dustin Lail (Lafayette)
171 Marshall Leavoy 3-1 2nd place one loss to #1 Jamel Wheatley (Northside)
285 Lindsey Leavoy 4-2 1 loss to #1 Devin Thomas (Lafayette) and one due to 5 match rule.
285 Jordan Staples 2-2 losses to #2 Algero (St. Paul) and #3 Inglus (Comeaux)
I am told that everyone stepped up this weekend and even those that lost wrestled well. As you can see we are getting closer and are only losing to the top guys in the state. The freshmen and improving every weekend and continue to impress me with their tenacity and dedication. The upper classmen are starting to become the leaders I need. Thanks, to all of the parents, coaches and wrestlers. GO WARRIORS!!!
