Warrior Wrestling takes on Catholic High
We had our dual meet with Catholic High on Wednesday Dec. 27th. This was the first dual meet at St. Michael in 4 years. With 12 of the 14 starters being first year wrestlers we had a tough time. Catholic cruised to a win when the Warriors could only muster one win. At 171 lbs. Marshall Leavoy scored a quick pin over Catholic senior Brandon Layman. There were some exciting matches and several other wrestlers fought hard. Freshman Ben Willeford had a tough match with Blake Savoie at 103 lbs. He pushed the pace and forced the action coming up just two points short after six minutes. At 135 lbs. Sophomore Zach Braud wrestled tough against Catholic's Mitchell Fisher. He dropped a decision after 3 rounds. Another close match was wrestled by Seth "Sizzle" LeBlanc at 152 lbs. He entered the 3rd period up by one, but lost a two point decision as the 3rd period closed. The coaching staff was proud of the effort given, but the results are indicative of our inexperience. With more practice and match time we hope to correct some deficiencies and have a better showing when we dual Dutchtown on Jan. 17th. We would like to thank all of the parents for their support of our program. Go Warriors!!!
