Elmira Free Academy retained a slim lead in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference West boys soccer standings as the Blue Devils played Horseheads to a 1-1 tie in overtime Monday.
"It was physical both ways and both teams had chances to win on overtime, but the goalkeepers made some big stops," EFA coach Derek Hamilton said. "Horseheads is coming on. Their young players are getting better every game, but we've still got a one-point lead in the standings."
For EFA (4-5-1), Frankie Mannino scored his ninth goal of the season. The Blue Devils defense has given up just one goal in nine of their 10 games, and four of the team's five losses were 1-0, including to Class AA state No. 1 Vestal.
Eric Burdette got the goal for Horseheads.
