News and Announcements

The White Station Spartans had very dominant teams a few years ago, but like many schools, are in a sort of "rebuilding" mode.  Coach Mark felt we had a good chance to win the girls match, and that we should win on the boys side.  The LadyCats couldn't handle the dry lanes, while the boys turned into "Cardiac 'Cats" by winning a match after being down 148 pins after game 1!  Four of our guys struggled mightily in game 1, with those 4 combining for just a 607 total.  Luckily, Bobby Davidson's 218 & Mike Murrell's 233 both won points for us, and kept it from being too far out of reach.  Still, our 1058 game was way down from their 1206, and we had some work to do.  Coach made some changes to the lineup, and the boys went to it.  Led by Bobby D & Brett Miler's dual 247's, the boys bowled their high game of the season with a great 1335!  Every bowler was over 200, and the Spartan boys really fell off, only rolling a 1081.  What a turnaround!  We took 7 of 8 in that game to lead 9-7 after two, and up on total by 94 pins.  We stayed solid in game 3 with an 1194 to their 997, to win easily 19.5-7.5.  Mike Murrell led our guys with his high set of 662, while Bobby Davidson added a 634 & Bryan Crigger a 228-612.  Brett Miler had 247 & 209 in his two games, & Spencer Harp added a 213.  Great win Wildcats!

The LadyCats simply had no answer for the very dry lanes, as they struggled to their lowest series in over 5 years, rolling a 2543 total.  White Station didn't fare much better, only bowling a 2663 total, but after being up 13-3 after two games they did sub in a few bowlers.  Congrats do go to So. Mikayla Burger for her highest game ever of 186 - good job, Mikayla!  Elizabeth Callas had a 204 in game 3, and Brittany Sisco a 181.  Maybe better in match three....

The LadyCats found new life after lunch, and did their best to "bring it" against regional rival Hendersonville.  And even though they were all close, the girls won all 3 games en route to a 19-8 win over the Lady Commandos!  Laurel Everett (203) & Elizabeth Callas (200) led our ladies to a 980-960 win in game 1, and while the scores went down in game 2, we still prevail by a 926-898 total.  Still, it is close - we're up 10-6 & +48 pins total going into game 3.  And after the first 7 frames, it looked like we were going to give in and let the have it.  But then the girls "let them have it", as we finished strong, won 4 points AND the team game 953-950!  Nicole Bailey's 189 included 3 out of the last 4 strikes to win her point, and Brittany Sisco also struck out in the 10th frame to help our girls win the team points.  Nice win, LadyCats!

Coach told the boys how young & inexperienced the H'ville boys were, and that our match shouldn't be close.  And our 22-5 final score supported Coach's words, as we won 3379-2998 in total.  Spencer Harp led our boys this time with a 232 game & 601 series...nice bowling, Spencer!  Other good scores:  John Petty with high game at 234; Kyle Hubbuch a 226; & So. Jordan Stump started with the first six in-a-row on his way to a nice 225 game!  Great finish, Wildcats!

Our third trip to Savannah, TN for the FALL BASH was not too different than the previous two visits.  The folks at Coach David Channell's house could not have been any nicer, and lots of fun & friendships were made.  As for the bowling, the boys again went 2-1, and again only losing to the host Hardin Co. team.  Our only difference was on the girls side, where our less experienced team went 1-2 this time, but it was who they defeated for the win that was the big surprise.  Read on for summaries of each match:

The WC Boys notched their first 27-0 sweep of the year, and the Girls nearly matched them at 26-1, in our away match vs. Glencliff HS.  With only 9 boys & 7 girls in attendance, we had our fewest players available at a match in many years.  But not to worry, as the young Glencliff players were no match for our experienced bowlers.

The Wildcats were led by Kyle Hubbuch, who nearly got his first 700 of the season with a nice 698 on games of 258, 203, & 237.  Great bowling, Kyle!  Our guys got off to another hot first game, rolling a season-high 1328 to start.  The boys also finished with their top series of the young season, a 3643.  Other good scores were:  Eric Lane stayed hot with a 247-646; John Petty with a nice 235 & 621 total; and Sr. Brett Miler had a 224 in game 1.  Nice bowling, Wildcats!  Boys move to 4-0 on the year.

The LadyCats didn't have a lot of good scores, but their total was still nearly double the Glencliff girls series.  Nicole Bailey leads the way again, with her season-highs of 210 & 543.  Nice set, Nicole!  LadyCats now 3-0 on the season.

Both our WC teams win again today, earning this victory over our non-district foe Donelson Christian Academy (DCA).  The Wildcats won 20-7, with a total pin margin of over 300 pins.  Our boys finish the day with a decent 3569-3204 for DCA.  Eric Lane again led our guys, with both high game (248) & high series (682).  Other good scores were:  Brett Miler with a 226, Bryan Crigger a 225, Drew Wiggins with a 222, and Jordan Stump a nice 221.  Great job, Wildcats!

The Girls improved by nearly 300 pins over their first match, finishing with a nice 2959 total.  Brittany Sisco led our ladies today with a very nice 221 game & 598 series.  Laurel Everett added a 214-556, and Elizabeth Callas had a 205-554.  Also want to give props to Fr. bowler Meghan Wofford, who rolled far above her pre-season average with her games of 174 & 168...nice bowling, Meghan!

Wildcats now 3-0 (2-0 Dist. 10) & LadyCats are 2-0 (1-0 Dist. 10).  Next match tomorrow at Pla-Mor Lanes vs. Glencliff HS.  GO CENTRAL!!
