Millburn Pool Summer Swim Team

Team scores are kept for dual meets. The score will be announced at the conclusion of the meet.

Individual Events
Individual events are scored on a 5-3-1 point basis. That is, for each event

First Place - 5 Points
Second Place - 3 Points
Third Place - 1 Point

A swimmer must legally complete an event for points to be awarded. In the event that fewer than 3 swimmers complete an event, only the points earned will be awarded (e.g, if only two swimmers complete the event, only 1st and 2nd place points will be awarded).

No Sweep Rule
There is a rule in place within the North Jersey Summer Swim League that prevents a team from "sweeping" the points for an event. In the event that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in an event are all from the same team, and a swimmer from the opposing team finishes in 4th place, 3rd place is deemed to have been achieved by the opposing team. If no swimmer from the opposing team completes the event, 3rd place points are not awarded.

Relay Events
7 points are awarded to the winning team in a relay event. No other points are awarded.

Bonus Heats
Bonus Heats are sometimes provided to allow additional swimmers to have the opportunity to swim in a meet situation. When bonus heats are used they are not counted in the meet scoring.
