Lexington, MA- It was a night to forget for the Chiefs when then Blue Sox jumped out to 17-0 fourth inning lead on the way to a 20-3 beatdown in Lexington on Thursday night. In the process the Chiefs modest four game winning streak came to a crashing end.

Things got ugly early and often as Dom Zaher’s first inning grand slam and Julian Alvarez’s second inning three run home propelled the Blue to Sox to a 10-0 lead in the second inning.

Steven Bangs (1-0) picked up the relief win for Lexington while Chiefs starter Christian Rosati (0-1) took the loss.

Andrew Caulfield’s fifth inning two run homer, Jonathan Rodriguez’s two hits, and Joe Bova’s (pictured) two hits off the bench, were the bright spots for the Chiefs 11 hit offense.

The loss was the Chiefs worst since July 1, 1992 when the Augustine A’s scored a hard to believe 20 runs in the first inning and beat the Chiefs 24-5 at Devir Park in Malden. The Chiefs entered that game on an ICL record eighteen game unbeaten streak to start the season. They went on to lose the next night to Powderhouse Pub but finished the regular season with only three losses in 32 games on the way to the 1992 ICL title.

The Chiefs are back in action on Friday when they visit the defending champion Sabertooth Expos at Trum Field in Somerville starting at 8:00 PM.
