Expos Knock OFF Chiefs at Brandeis 3-1
(Waltham, MA) The Middlesex Expos opened their 2022 season with a 3-1 win over the Chiefs at Brandeis University on THursday night.
Righty Zach Kirby (1-0) tossed a neat four-hitter, striking out 12, to get the win. The Expos scored all their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Cal Carroll (0-1) took the loss despite Chiefs’ pitching allowing just three hits. Carroll worked the first 3.2 innings, allowing just three hits, before giving way to Gabriel Valdez (1.1 innings,) and Tommy Leone ( 1 inning) who combined to hold the Expos hitless over the last 2.1 frames.
Ryan Noone gave the Chiefs a brief lead and accounted for all of their offense with a solo homer in top of the fourth.
Teddy Dziuba (pictured) and Anthony Perry each had two hits for the Chiefs.
The Expos and Chiefs will meet in a rematch on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Lexington High.
