Forbes 4-Hitter Leads Chiefs Past Reds, 4-1

Medford, MA- Keith Forbes threw a complete game four-hitter, striking out seven, to lead the Chiefs past the Watertown Reds at Tufts University on Thursday evening.

The Chiefs staked Forbes to a 3-0 lead in the bottom the first inning. Shortstop Nate Leva led things off with a walk against Reds starter Dave Martin. Mike Barbati followed a with a bunt single before Martin got the first out of the inning when Andrew Hanson flew to center. Red hot Justin Crisafulli then unloaded a long double to left center scoring both Leva and Barbati and giving the Chiefs a 2-0 lead. Matt Lawlor then singled sending Crisafulli to third and Mike Andre hit another single scoring Crisafulli to make it 3-0.

The Reds got one back in the top of the second on a bunt single by Brian McDavitt, a catcher's interference call and two wild pitches.

The Chiefs added their fourth and final run of the night in the third inning on consecutive singles from Barbati and Hanson and double play ground out by Crisafulli.

Forbes got stronger as the game progressed and retired 13 of the last 15 batters he faced. The Chiefs ace righty improves his season mark to 3-1-1,(1.95 ERA) with the win and has now struck ouit 61 batters in 46.0 innings of work.
