2013 Week Seven Recaps

Mustangs 17 - Willis 7 Mustangs came out slugging, scoring 13 runs in the first two innings combined to gain the 17-7 victory over Willis Tent. Don Cusano went 4-for-4 to lead the Mustang offense and got the win on the mound. Several Mustangs had 3 hits, including: Paul Selfrige(3-for-4, one HR, 3 runs scored), Jay Lincoln (3-for-4, first HR of the year, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored), Mark Cusano (3-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 run scored) and Jim Ward (3-for-4, 3 runs scored). The top three in the Mustangs’ order went a combined went 10-for-12. Bill Knute also chipped in with a home run and 5 RBI. Mike Kennedy added 2 hits, including a homerun and 3 RBI to the Mustang cause. Knute led the speedy Mustang outfield defense with several running catches.

Mustangs 13 - Gutcheck 0 Mustang Paul Liguori pitched a 2-hit shutout run rule victory over Gutcheck. The Mustangs’ infield defense was flawless, led by Paul Selfrige, Don Cusano, Dan Crogan, and Jay Lincoln. The Cusano brothers led the Mustang offense, each went 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI each. Other Mustangs with 2 hits apiece were Mike Kennedy, Jack McGrath, Bill Knute, and Jim Ward.

Floral Arts 25 - Pro Sports Therapy 7 Larry Mardany pitched five solid innings and homered in his own support as Floral earned their 11th victory. Mardany was touched up only by two long balls, one from Dave Chriokas. Floral belted 6 other home runs including blasts by Roger Whittlesey, Rob Beaudette, Tom Semeter, Frank Lancelotta, and Jim Peloquin (2). Ken Delaney had four hits and Greg Marchand and Mike Spanos hit long singles in the win.

Shortcut Landscaping 25 - Pro Sports Therapy 12 After a slow start, the Shortcut bats came around with Dave Libby starting things off with a 3-run homer. Brent Oakleaf and Chris Smith each hit two homers. Rich Acaboo also went deep. Dave Libby picked up the win. Shortcut Landscaping 23, Mario’s Restaurant 10 It was a close game until Short Cut put up 9 runs in the 6th Inning. Dave Sullivan hit 3 long home runs and just missed a fourth inside-the-park homer, but was thrown out at the plate. Dave Silton belted two home runs, and Chris Clark, Jason Humphrey, and Mike Gross added one each. Bill Doherty picked up the win.

Willis Tent 15 - Drew Farms 5 Dave Harrington and Steve Damiani led Willis Tent—both going 4-for-4 with a home run—in the 15-5 win over Drew Farms. John Mangiaratti chipped in a key home run, and Brian Anderson had a great all-around game, going 3-for-3 and pitching another solid outing. Drews could muster only 11 hits in 7 innings to drop the contest to Willis. Solid defense was not enough to defeat hot hitting Willis. While 9 of the 12 players for Drews delivered a hit, several runners were left on base. Tom Menicci delivered Drews' lone home run, while Scott Cole and Mark MacAleese delivered 2 hits apiece.

Drew Farms 21 - Gutcheck 5 In a game that ended after 5 innings, Drews pounded out 26 hits in a convincing win. Tom Menicci and Lance Pratt each homered, while 6 players had 3 or more hits, including Mark Kost, Menicci, Todd Shepherd, Pat Pawlak, Pratt and Bill Bowser. Solid defense backed up the hitting with no errors over the 5 innings.
