San Jose Ninja Results

Posted by Jon Morinishi on Apr 12 2009 at 05:00PM PDT

Dear Force Parents,

We hope everyone had a safe trip home either last night or today.

We had a great tournament this past weekend with the San Jose Ninja's. Our boys played really hard and executed what we had practiced for this past month. In our first game against the BAAS Black Dragons our zone offenses worked well as did our trap defenses. The result was a 20 point victory in the first round. In the second round we faced a very tall FYBC Titan team from Sacramento and utilized our speed and endurance with a 27 point victory putting us in the Championship Game on Sunday. On Sunday we faced the Pasadena Bruins and we practiced for them with the anticipation that we might meet on Sunday but we fell short in a 39-41 loss taking second place in our first Ninja Tournament. As coaches we apologize for this loss to you parents and to our boys as close games are won and loss due to coaching and not by the actions of the players.

The boys were able to bond together this past weekend and had a great time at the park. They also had so much fun at the 6th grade social on Saturday night that we had to pull them out at 10:30 p.m. These travel tournaments are just as important as all the practices and games as what we do together socially will give them balance in life.

We want to send out a HUGE thank you to Tracie again for helping with all the travel arrangements for those who flew up to San Jose and for working early on with the Embassy Suites for a great Hotel for all of us to stay. We also appreciated you getting the tickets for Great America in advance, printing out the directions to the gym and coordinating the El Torito dinner on Friday night. Coach Scotty, thank you so much for buying all the boys Jamba Juice on Saturday between games and hanging out with all of them for the weekend. Pom, thank you for washing all the jersey's on Saturday night so we could look good for our Championship Game on Sunday.

There will be no practice this weekend although we might receive free practice time from VFW on Saturday. If you are interested in shooting, etc. please let me know. We also have our optional KB Defensive Clinic tomorrow (Tuesday 4/14) at Katella HS from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at a cost of $20 per player, please bring a ball and water if you participate.

Our next official practice will be on the weekend of 4/24-4/26, we have not made arrangements for gyms yet but will keep you posted as we get closer. This will be practices for the Tigers Tournament on 5/23, 5/24 and 5/25.

Parents, thank you again for being so supportive in making this team the best 6th grade team around. We could not do it without your support.

Have a great week,

Mark
