Spring Break Track & Field Practices commence at Northside! Josh Williams flying back from Florida for Lake Forest Academy Caxys Invitational!

On Monday, April 18, 2011, Spring Break Track & Field Practices commenced at Northside College Prep. Spring Break practices are an important part of the Northside Track & Field Team culture and vital to success at the upcoming Chicago Public League Championships and IHSA Sectional Championships.

Athletes that miss spring break meets, will find themselves in a difficult situation, because they will have gone from April 12, 2011 to April 29, 2011, without racing for a period of 17 days. This puts sprinters, especially, at a major disadvantage.

The April 20, 2011, Lake Forest Academy Caxys Invitational will also determine the Mustangs final entries for the Varsity Spartan Relays against York High School, among others, on April 29, 2011, and the Sophomore-Freshman Chicago Public League Championships on April 30, 2011.

Northside Sprints Coach Kwaku Attoh had an impressive practice with the Northside sprinters on Monday. Northside Jumps Coach Adrian Hunter had an equally outstanding practice with the jumpers. Northside Distance runners ran very impressive repeats at River Park Track. The Northside throwers put an extra time after practice in the Northside weight room.

Northside Jumper and Sprinter Josh Williams showed his loyalty to the coaching staff and his teammates by flying back from Florida for the Lake Forest Academy Caxys Invitational, which will takes place on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

Lake Forest Academy features a multi-million dollar track, hockey rink, and extensive athletic facilities. The campus is surrounded by woods, complete with running trails. All Lake Forest Academy students are required to compete in Track and one other sport as a graduation requirement. Lake Forest Academy has multiple athletes and relays in every event.

Across from their Track & Field Stadium, the Chicago Bears Indoor Practice facility can be seen behind the Track & Field stadium score board.

Host Lake Forest Academy has very impressive sprinters, including a 10.90 in the 100m dash this season. The Caxys also have strong milers, and will be a good challenge for the Mustangs.
