Northside QUALIFIES for Chicago Public League Finals in High Jump(1), 4x800m Relay(8), 3200m run(2), 800m run(2), and 1600m run(2)! Finals Saturday!!

 On Wednesday, May 5, 2010, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Hanson stadium in Chicago, Illinois for the Chicago Public League Conference Prelims. The Chicago Public League is one of the largest Track & Field Conference Meets in the country. Only New York City can rival the amount of athletes in the Chicago Public League.

 Prior to the meet, over 100 high schools enter their best athletes, and after a long monday night seed meeting, the fields were reduced to approximately forty athletes per event for the Prelims on Wednesday.

 In Field Events and Distance Events the Top 12 individuals advance to the Finals. In the Sprinting and Hurdle Events the Top 8 Individuals or Relays advance to the Finals.

 In the High Jump, Athletes jumped until there were only 5 athletes remaining, and the top 12 advanced to the finals. Northside Senior Hunter Speese QUALIFIED for the Finals with a jump of 5'8. Hunter Speese had no misses in the competition, and cleared 5'8 by over 0'3!

 In the Long Jump and Triple Jump, Northside Sophomore Josh Williams, and Northside Sophomore Derek Lin were both scratched due to injuries. Both athletes will be ready to go for the IHSA Sectional Championships on Thursday, May 20, 2010. 

 In the Discus, it took 102'04.50 to qualify for the Finals. Northside Senior Andrew Czyszczon threw an outstanding 87'03.50. Northside Junior Ottmar Flores threw 71'03.50.

 In the Shot Put, it took 40'05 to qualify for the Finals. Northside Senior Andrew Czyszczon threw an outstanding 32'07.

 In the 100m Dash, it took a time of 11.47 to qualify for the Finals. Northside Sophomore Mac Melto ran an outstanding time of 11.85. Northside Freshman Nathaniel Agharese ran an outstanding time of 12.01.

 In the 110m Hurdles, it took a time of 16.15 to qualify for the Finals. Northside Junior Hersh Perlmutter ran an outstanding time of 17.05. Northside Senior Andrew Czyszczon ran a personal best time of 18.73.

 In the 200m Dash, it took a time of 24.01 to qualify for the Semi-Finals. Northside Sophomore Mac Melto ran an outstanding time of 24.02. Northside Freshman Nathaniel Agharese ran an outstanding time of 24.65.   

 In the 4x800m Relay, it took a time of 9:18.37 to qualify for the Finals. Northside finished second in their heat, and fourth overall to QUALIFY for the FINALS with an outstanding time of 8:54.71. In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Senior Cooper Eben ran an outstanding 800m split of 2:10.66 on the first leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Northside Junior Erik Zuehlke. Erik Zuehlke ran an 800m split of 2:09.04 on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Northside Sophomore Dan Graham. Dan Graham ran an 800m split of 2:19.90 on the third leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Ezra Edgerton. Ezra Edgerton anchored the Mustangs with an 800m split of 2:14, for an official time of 8:54.71.

 In the 4x100m Relay, it took a time of 45.04 to qualify for the Finals. Northside was disqualifed due to an exchange zone violation on the final exchange. 

 In the 3200m run, Northside Senior Cooper Eben, and Junior Erik Zuehlke QUALIFIED for the fast Heat of the Finals based on verified seed times.

 In the 800m run, Northside Junior Wesley Laytham QUALIFIED for the finals with an official time of 2:05.21. Northside Junior Pat Duffy QUALIFIED for the finals with an official time of 2:09.97.

 In the 4x200m Relay, it took a time of 1:36.64 to qualify for the Finals. Northside ran an official time of 1:40.28.

 In the 400m Dash, it took a time of 52.21 to qualify for the Finals. Northside Sophomore Mac Melto ran an outstanding time of 52.76.
