Northside Varsity Men upset Conant to WIN Bison Indoor Classic!! Grba WINS MILE! Rosen SECOND in Mile! Kafka SECOND in 880! Fitzpatrick WINS Hurdles!

 On Wednesday, March 12, 2014, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Bensenville, Illinois to Bison Stadium for the Fenton Bison Indoor Classic. 

 Fenton is the home of the Metro Suburban Conference Track and Field Champions. Fenton has won the Metro Suburban Conference Track & Field Championships, two of the last four years, and famous alumni include Olympian Jim Spivey, and Chris Siemers.

 Fenton is a special venue, and a great atmosphere for Track & Field. The P.A. announcer makes all the Teams feel welcome, and gives scoring updates after every event. The announcer also lets the crowd know the height of the High Jump and Pole Vault cross bar throughout the evening competition.

 Fenton also features a 135 yards track. Athletes have the priviledge of knowing their racing splits every 135 yards for 26 laps in the Two miles run.

 All of the events are in Yards at Fenton. As a result, the athletes race 3,510 yards for the Two Miles run, which is actually 3,209.54 Meters. The athletes race 1,755 yards for the mile, which is actually 1,604.772 Meters. The athletes race 880 yards for the half-mile, which is actually 804.672 Meters. The athletes race 440 yards for the quarter, which is actually 402.336 Meters. The athletes race 220 yards for the 200, which is actually 201.168 Meters.

 The Fenton Bison Indoor Classic featured Gordon Tech, Conant, Northside College Prep, and host Fenton. Individual Events were scored 6-4-3-2-1, and Relays were scored 6-4-2.

 The Northside Varsity Men WON the Bison Indoor Classic with 93 points, and posted victories over: 2. Conant (75 points), 3. Fenton (60 points), and 4. Gordon Tech (18 points). Northside had a record of 3-0 on the day.

 In the Shot Put, Northside Junior Ari Perlmutter finished in THIRD place overall with an outstanding throw of 38'11. Northside Captain Ari Perlmutter recently returned to the Track Team after helping the Varsity Basketball Team to 18 Wins this year! Ari Perlmutter had a very BIG day for the Northside Track Team in his first meet of season. In addition to Shot Put, Perlmutter finished in third place in the High Jump, and also anchored the Northside Varsity 4x270 Yards Relay to second place! Conant's Gary Hickerson finished in fourth place with a throw of 37'8. Conant's Mike Meier finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 36'3.50. Northside Senior Henry Lothschutz threw a personal best 34'8. Northside Senior Marek Dobrenko threw an outstanding 32'5. Northside Junior Tom Frejowski threw an outstanding 29'11. Northside Junior Declan Galleher threw an outstanding 26'3.

 In the Pole Vault, Northside Senior Jay Yu won the Varsity division with an outstanding vault of 8'0. Gordon Tech's Fredorok finished in second place with a vault of 8'0. Conant's Ahmed finished in third place with a vault of 7'0. Northside Junior Declan Galleher finished in fourth place with a personal best vault of 6'6.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in second place with a jump of 16'9.25.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in second place with an outstanding jump of 38'3. Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in third place with an outstanding jump of 37'5. Northside Senior Jay Yu finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an outstanding jump of 33'4.5.

 In the High Jump, Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in second place with a leap of 5'4. Northside Junior Ari Perlmutter finished in third place with a leap of 5'4.

 In the 4x880 Yards Relay, Fenton won it with an official time of 9:08.1. Northside finished in second place with an official time of 9:36.50. On the first leg of the Relay, Northside Junior Max McCoy ran an 880 yards split of 2:21.03, and made a perfect exchange to Senior Cesar Rufino. Cesar Rufino ran an 880 yards split of 2:21.25, and made a nice exchange to Junior Adrian Black. Adrian Black ran an 880 yards split of 2:24.75, and made a good exchange to Sophomore Matthew Gomez. Matthew Gomez anchored the Mustangs to SECOND place with an 880 Yards split of 2:29.00, for an official time of 9:36.50.

 In the 4x135 Yards Relay, the difference between 1st and 3rd was only 0.80 of a second! Conant won it with an official time of 1:07.20. Fenton finished in second place with an official time of 1:07.60. Northside finished in third place with an official of 1:08.00. Northside Sophomore Steven Kataba ran a 135 Yards split of 18.02 on the first leg of the relay, and had trouble catching up to Keith Jones to make the first exchange. Keith Jones ran a 15.02 135 Yards split on the second leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Max McCoy. Max McCoy ran a 17.67 135 Yards split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Philip Wdowiak. Philip Wdowiak anchored the Mustangs to THIRD place with an impressive 16.85 135 Yards split for an official time of 1:08.00.

 In the 3200m run, Fenton Estrade won it with an official time of 11:01.20. Northside Senior Alex Gordon and Junior Kenny Dumez ran outstanding races for the Mustangs. Alex Gordon ran the first mile in 5:45, and then ran the final 6:00.60 to finish in SECOND place with an official time of 11:45.60. Alex Gordon ran 135 Yards splits of 24, 26, 25, 27, 26, 27, 26, 27, 26, 27, 28, 28, 28, 27, 29, 27, 29, 28, 28, 28, 29, 28, 28, 29, 27, and then ran the final 135 Yards in a NEGATIVE split of 23.60 seconds for an official time of 11:45.60. Kenny Dumez ran the first mile in 5:46, and then ran the final mile in 5:59.70 to finish in THIRD place with an official time of 11:45.70. Kenny Dumez ran 135 Yards splits of 25, 26, 26, 26, 26, 27, 26, 27, 26, 27, 28, 28, 27, 29, 27, 29, 28, 28, 28, 29, 28, 28, 29, 27, and then ran the final 135 Yards in a NEGATIVE split of 22.70 seconds for an official time of 11:45.70.

 In the 50 Yards High Hurdles, Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick WON it with an official time of 6.90. Conant's Almodoyai finished in second place with an official time of 6.92. Conant's Okpa finished in third place with an official time of 7.70. Northside Junior Matt Obsorne finished in fourth place with an official time of 7.70. Northside Junior Nick Jean-Baptiste finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 8.80.

 In the 50 Yards Dash, Conant's Okpa won it with an official time of 5.70. Fenton's Casey and Gordon Tech's Fedrorul tied for second place with an official time of 5.80. Gordon Tech's Smith and Fenton's Smith tied for fourth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 5.9. Northside Junior Tom Frejowski ran an official time of 5.98. Northside Sophomore Philip Wdowiak ran a personal best time of 6.09. Northside Sophomore Steven Kataba ran an outstanding time of 6.16. Northside Sophomore Keith Jones ran an outstanding time of 6.27. Northside Junior Harry Winters ran an official time of 6.89. Northside Senior Marek Dobrenko ran an official time of 6.90.

 In the 880 Yards run, Fenton Silva won it with an official time of 2:12.10. Northside Senior Simon Kafka ran the first 70 yards in 9 seconds, and then ran 135 Yards splits of 19, 21, 20, 22, 22, and then ran the final 135 Yards in a NEGATIVE split of 20.20 seconds to finish in SECOND place with an outstanding time of 2:12.20. It was the fastest Varsity 880 Yards time at Fenton in the history of Northside College Prep! The previous Top 2 Northside times for 880 Yards at Fenton were held by Patrick Brennan (2:13.30, 2013, Senior Year), and Wesley Laytham (2:14.65, 2010, Junior Year). Conant's Pesle finished in third place with an official time of 2:24.3. Northside Senior Cesar Rufino finished in fourth place with an official time of 2:25.40. Cesar Rufino ran the first 70 yards in 10 seconds, and then ran 135 Yards splits of 20, 22, 22, 24, 23, and then ran the final 135 Yards in 24.40 seconds for an official time of 2:25.40. Conant's Ali finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 2:28.40.

 In the 4x270 Yards Relay, Conant won it with an official time of 2:24.0. Northside finished in SECOND place with an official time of 2:24.50. Northside Junior Max McCoy ran a 270 yards split of 35.29 on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Matthew Gomez. Matthew Gomez ran a 270 yards split of 35.50 on the second leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Sophomore Philip Wdowiak. Philip Wdowiak ran a 270 yards split of 37.34 on the third leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Junior Ari Perlmutter. Ari Perlmutter anchored the Mustangs to SECOND place with a 36.49 270 Yards split for an official time of 2:24.50.

 In the 440 Yards Dash, Fenton's Bailon won it with an official time of 58.70. Fenton's Casey finished in second place with an official time of 60.20. Northside Junior Nick Jean-Baptiste finished in third place with an official time of 63.20. Conant's Piltaver finished in fourth place with an official time of 65.50.

 In the 50 Yards Intermidate Hurdles, Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick won it with an official time of 6.90. Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in second place with an official time of 7.30. Conant's Altax finished in third place with a 8.7. Northside Junior Nick Jean-Baptiste finished in fourth place with an official time of 9.2.

 In the Mile, Northside Junior Malcolm Grba won it with an outstanding time of 4:42.70. Malcolm Grba ran 135 Yards splits of 19, 22, 21, 23, 22, 22, 22, 23, 22, 22, 22, 21, and then ran the final 135 Yards in 21.70 seconds for an official time of 4:42.70. It was the fastest Mile ever run by a Northside athlete on the Fenton 135 Yards Track. Northside Sophomore Danny Rosen finished in second place with an official time of 4:54.70. Danny Rosen ran 135 Yards splits of 19, 23, 21, 23, 23, 21, 24, 24, 23, 25, 23, 24, and then ran the final 135 Yards in a NEGATIVE split of 21.70 seconds for an official time of 4:54.70. Fenton's Wiggin finished in third place with an official time of 4:57.0. Conant's Smolik finsihed in fourth place with an official time of 5:05.9. Northside Junior Adrian Black finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 5:09.60. Adrian Black ran 135 Yards splits of 22, 24, 23, 24, 25, 24, 24, 24, 24, 24, 27, 21, and then ran the final 135 Yards in 23.60 seconds for an official time of 5:09.60.

 In the 220 Yards Dash, Northside Sophomore Philip Wdowiak scored for the Mustangs by finishing in fifth place with an official time of 29.20. Northside Senior Marek Dobrenko ran a personal best time of 30.30. Northside Junior Harry Winters ran an official time of 32.34.

 In the 4x405 Yards Relay, Northside Senior Simon Kafka ran an impressive 53.17 405 Yards split on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Matthew Gomez. Matthew Gomez ran a 56.30 405 Yards split on the second leg of the relay, and made an exchange to Sophomore Danny Rosen. Danny Rosen ran a 56.40 405 Yards split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Malcolm Grba. Malcolm Grba anchored the Mustangs to SECOND place with a 56.06 405 Yards split for an official time of 3:41.93.
