Katie Dugan throws Shot Put 29'8! Anna Parks WINS 800m run with 2:36! Northside runs a 3:35.4 4x352 Yard Relay!
On Tuesday, March 17, 2009, Northside Varsity Women, Sophomore Freshman Girls, Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon, Assistant Coach Jose Nebrida, and Throwers Coach Kate Cook traveled to Evanston, Illinois for the Evanston Widkits Invitational.
The Evanston Wildkids Invitational featured Steinmetz, Harlan, Lane Tech, Northside College Prep, and host Evanston High School. The meet provided unlimited entries, and was not scored.
In the Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Katie Dugan threw the Shot Put a personal best 29'8. Northside Sophomore Caeleigh Renkosiak threw the Shot Put an outstanding 29'2.
In the Long Jump, Northside Senior Gayatri Satam jumped 12'4. Northside Sophomore Lyndsey Shallberg jumped 10'8. Northside Senior Janette Szestowicki jumped 10'2. Northside Senior Jennifer Kane jumped 10'0. Northside Senior Maria Zdunek jumped 10'0.
In the High Jump, Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty jumped 4'2.
In the 800m Run, Northside Senior Anna Parks WON it wearing sun-glasses with a season best time of 2:36. Parks ran 176 Yards splits of 28, 31, 33, 32 and 32 for a season best time of 2:36. Northside Senior Adaora Achufusi finished in third place with an outstanding time of 2:39. Adaora Achufusi ran 176 Yards splits of 30, 31, 32, 35, and 31 for an outstanding time of 2:39. Northside Junior Bessie Nolan ran a time of 2:54. Nolan ran 176 Yards splits of 32, 33, 37, 37, and 34 for a time of 2:54.
In the Varsity 4x176 Relay, Senior Janette Szestowikci ran a 28.76 176 Yards split on the first leg of the relay. Senior Maria Zdunek ran a 28.86 176 Yards split on the second leg of the relay. Senior Gayatri Satam ran a 25.27 176 Yards split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Nina Coomes anchored the Mustangs with a 26.67 176 Yards split, for a total time of 1:46.56.
In the 60 Yards Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty ran an outstanding time of 11.56. Northside Senior Maria Zdunek ran a time of 12.10.
In the 60 Yards Dash, Northside Freshman Vivian Lei ran an outstanding time of 8.66. Northside Freshman Rosailie Abbey ran a time of 8.67. Northside Freshman Hannah Lea Doruelo ran a time of 9.04.
In the 300 Yards Dash, Northside Sophomore Stella Han ran a time of 47.19. Northside Freshman Rosailie Abbey ran a time of 47.90. Northside Freshman Vivian Lei ran a time of 49.91. Northside Freshman Hannah Lea Doruelo ran a time of 50.43.
In the 176 Yards Dash, Northside Freshman Vivian Lei ran an outstanding time of 27.03. Northside Freshman Rosailie Abbey ran an outstanding time of 27.06. Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty ran a time of 27.85. Northside Sophomore Stella Han ran a time of 27.91. Northside Sophomore Lindsey Shallberg ran a time of 28.59.
In the 4x352 Yards Relay, Evanston won it. Northside finished in second place with impressive victories over Lane Tech, Harlan, and Steinmetz. Senior Adaora Achufusi ran a 52.14 352 Yards split on the first leg of the 4x352 Yards Relay, and made a nice hand-off to Sophomore Nina Coomes. Nina Coomes ran a 55.35 352 Yards split, and made a nice exchange to Junior Bessie Nolan. Bessie Nolan ran a 55.15 352 Yards split, and made a nice hand-off to Senior Anna Parks. Anna Parks ran a 53.00 352 Yards split, to anchor the Mustangs to second place, for a total time of 3:35.4.
The Northside Varsity Women and Sophomore-Freshman Girls travel to Lane Tech on Thursday, March 26, 2009 for Lane Tech Relays.
