Northside Varsity Women WIN Mustang Classic! Bessie Nolan WINS 3200m run! Anna Parks WINS 800m run! Adaora Achufusi WINS Mile!

On Saturday, April 4, 2009, Taft, Mather, and Steinmetz traveled to River Park in Chicago, Illinois to take on host Northside College Prep in the Mustang Classic. The Mustang Classic was the first Track meet ever hosted by Northside College Prep. The Mustang Classic featured Three scored divisions (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Sophomore-Freshman), which created non-stop action on the Track. Teams were allowed four entries per event in the Varsity and Sophomore-Freshman division, and unlimited entries in the Junior Varsity division. "Goody Bags" were also provided to all participants, courtesy of Universal Sole. 

Team Trophies were awarded to the Top four Teams in the Varsity division. Team Trophies were also awarded to the Top two Teams in the Junior Varsity division, and the Top two Teams in the Sophomore-Freshman division. Engraved USA Track & Field Gold Medals were awarded for first place in all divisions. Silver, and Bronze Medals were awarded through fourth place on the Varsity level, and through second place on the Junior Varsity and Sophomore-Freshman levels. Individual Events were scored 6-4-3-2-1, and Relays were scored 6-4-2. The Sunday, April 5, 2009 edition of the Chicago Sun Times will feature the meet results from the Mustang Classic.

In the Varsity Women Division, Northside College Prep won it with a score of 113 points. Mather finished in second place with 64 points. Steinmetz finished in third place with 60 points. Taft finished in fourth place with 0 points.

In the Junior Girls Division, Steinmetz won it with 85 points. Taft finished in second place with 25 points. Northside College Prep and Mather tied for third place with 0 points.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls Division, Steinmetz won it with 85 points. Mather finished in second place with 29 points. Northside College Prep finished in third place with 17 points. Taft finished in fourth place with 3 points. 

In the Varsity High Jump, Mather's Ashley Alomgir won it with a jump of 4'8. Mather's Jasmine Grey finished in second place with 4'8. Northside Senior Maria Torres finished in third place with a jump of 4'8. Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty finished in fourth place with a jump of 4'6.

In the Junior Varsity Girls High Jump, there were no entries.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls High jump, Steinmetz Janette Ocampo won it with a jump of 3'10. 

In the Varsity Long Jump, Northside Senior Maria Torres won it with a jump of 13'7. Maria Torres was awarded a Gold USA Track & Field Medal for winning the Long Jump. Northside Freshman Vivian Leo finished in second place with a jump of 12'11. Northside Senior Gayatri Satam finished in third place with a jump of 12'9. Northside Freshman Anastasia Rhodes finished in fourth place with a jump of 12'6. Steinmetz Kim Moss finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 12'2.

In the Junior Varsity Girls Long Jump, Steinmetz Lauren DeJesus won it with a jump of 8'9.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls Long Jump, Steinmetz Patricia Zakrzewska won it with a jump of 12'6. Northside Sophomore Kaity Bobadilla finished in second place with a jump of 6'5.

In the Varsity Triple Jump, Northside Senior Maria Torres won it with a jump of 32'9. Maria Torres was awarded a Gold USA Track & Field Medal for winning the Triple Jump. Mather's Jasmine Grey finished in second place with a jump of 32'2.5. Northside Senior Gayatri Satam finished in third place with a jump of 28'1. Northside Sophomore Lindsey Shallberg finished in fourth place with a jump of 22'8. Steinmetz Dury Licona finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 22'6.

In the Junior Varsity Girls Triple Jump, there were no entries.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls Triple Jump, Steinmetz's Lucy Licona won it with a jump of 23'3.

In the Varsity Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Katie Dugan won it with a throw of 27'1. Katie Dugan was awarded a Gold USA Track & Field Medal for winning the Shot Put. Steinmetz Johnnae Joiner finished in second place with a throw of 25'8.5. Northside Freshman Anastasia Rhodes finished in third place with a throw of 24'5.5. Mather's Jacqueline Rangel finished in fourth place with a throw of 12'3. Northside Freshman Yuwei Lei finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 12'0.5. Steinmetz Gloria Quintana finished in sixth place with a throw of 11'1.5.

In the Junior Varsity Girls Shot Put, Taft's Holly Lewandowski won it with a throw of 22'11. Steinmetz Elena Garcia finished in second place with a throw of 11'3.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls Shot Put, Steinmetz Kassandra Badillo won it with a throw of 17'8.5. Steinmetz Monserrat Rafael finished in second place with a throw of 15'3. Taft's Esma Susuz finished in third place with a throw of 13'5.5.

In the Varsity Discus, Steinmetz Johnnae Joiner won it with a throw of 74'8.5 Northside Sophomore Katie Dugan finished in second place with a throw of 63'10. Northside Sophomore Stella Han finished in third place with a throw of 55'33. Steinmetz's J. Zaghdoud finished in fourth place with a throw of 49'2. Northside Sophomore Lindsey Shallberg finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 41'2.5. Mather's Jacqueline Rangel finished in sixth place with a throw of 29'2. 

In the Junior Varsity Girls Discus, Steinmetz Fransely Robles won it with a throw of 37'6.5. Steinmetz Cassandra Rodriguez finished in second place with a throw of 34'6.5.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls Discus, Steinmetz's Anna Omelyan finished in first place with a throw of 36'4.5. Steinmetz's Jennie Lucera finished in second place with a throw of 34'3.

In the Varsity 3200m run, Northside Junior Bessie Nolan won it with an outstanding time of 13:45. Bessie Nolan was awarded a Gold USA Track & Field Medal for finishing in first place. Mather's Michelle Arellano finished in second place with a time of 14:20. Steinmetz's Gabriela Hernandez finished in third place with a time of 15:51. Northside Freshman Yuwei Lei finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 17:54.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 3200m run, there were no finishers.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 3200m run, Mather's Dhara Mehta won it with a time of 15:26.

In the Varsity 4x100m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 56.37. Northside finished in second place with a time of 60.56.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 4x100m Relay, there were no entries.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 4x100m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 60.06.

In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, Mather won it with a time of 10:50.66. Steinmetz finished in second place with a time of 12:25.09.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 4x800m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 13:26.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 4x800m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 12:58.

In the Varsity 100m Hurdles, Mather's Chequia Wesley won it with a time of 17.80. Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty finished in second place with a time of 21.50. Northside Sophomore Lindsey Shallberg finished in third place with a time of 22.20. Northside Senior Maria Zdunek finished in fourth place with a time of 22.50.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 100m Hurdles, there were no entries.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 100m Hurdles, there were no entries.

In the Varsity 100m Dash, Mather Sophomore Kellion Gordon won it with an outstanding time of 12.90. Northside Freshman Hannah Doruelo finished in second place with a personal best time of 16.10. Duruelo will spend the rest of the week training in Paris, France in preparation for the Deerfield Classic on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Northside Freshman Anastasia Rhodes finished in third place with a personal best time of 16.40.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 100m Dash, Steinmetz's Claudia Hernandez won it with a time of 19.50.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 100m Dash, Mather's Stacey Powell won it with a time of 14.30. Steinmetz's Samatha Balbuena finished in second place with a time of 16.70.

In the Varsity 800m run, Northside Senior Anna Parks won it with a time of 2:35.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 800m run, Steinmetz's Vanessa Hernandez won it with a time of 3:31.50.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 800m run, Steinmetz's Monserrat Rafael won it with a time of 3:22.15. Steinmetz's V. Geiger finished in second place with a time of 3:31.56.

In the Varsity Thrower's 4x100m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 64.00.

In the Junior Varsity Girls Thrower's 4x100m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 73.46.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls Thrower's 4x100m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 63.00.

In the Varsity 4x200m Relay, Mather won it with a time of 2:00.12. Steinmetz finished in second place with a time of 2:02.97. Northside finished in third place with a time of 2:18.41.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 4x200m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 2:15.47.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 4x200m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 2:11.48.

In the Varsity 400m Dash, Mather's Kellion Gordon won it with an outstanding time of 62.87. Steinmetz's Takara Johnson finished in second place with a time of 65.59. Northside Freshman Hannah Doruelo finished in third place with a personal best time of 72.30. Northside Sophomore Nina Coomes finished in fourth place with an outstanding time of 73.66. Northside Freshman Rosalie Abbey completed the scoring by finishing in fifth place with a personal best time of 74.84.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 400m Dash, Taft's Nicole Kochler won it with an outstanding time of 73.12. Taft's Kari Bailey finished in second place with a time of 75.57. Steinmetz's Claudia Hernandez finished in third place with a time of 91.13.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 400m Dash, Mather's Stacey Powell won it with a time of 71.13. Steinmetz's Salma Zaghdoud finished in second place with a time of 89.25.

In the Varsity 300m Hurdles, Mather Sophomore Chequia Wesley won it with a meet record and personal best time of 50.90. Northside Senior Maria Zudnek finished in second place with a time of 59.81. Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty finished in third place with a time of 63.28. Northside Senior Gayatri Satam finished in fourth place with a time of 64.12.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 300m Hurdles, Steinmetz's Janette Ocampo won it with a time of 87.29.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 300m Hurdles, Steinmetz's Lauren Dejesus won it with a time of 67.75.

In the Varsity Mile, Northside Senior Adaora Achufusi won it with a personal best time of 5:54. Adaora Achufusi was awarded a Gold USA Track & Field Medal for finishing in first place. Northside Junior Bessie Nolan finished in second place with an outstanding time of 6:09.28. Steinmetz's Duvy Licona finished in third place with a time of 6:55. Steinmetz's Gabriela Hernandez finished in fourth place with a time of 7:45.

In the Junior Varsity Girls Mile, Steinmetz Raquel Davis won it with a time of 8:31.62.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls Mile, Steinmetz's Vanessa Hernandez won it with a time of 8:10.43.

In the Varsity 200m Dash, Steinmetz's Kim Moss won it with a meet record and personal best time of 27.69. Steinemtz's Celia Dodd finished in second place with a time of 31.03. 

In the Junior Varsity Girls 200m Dash, Steinmetz's Brianna Harris won it with a time of 32.06. Taft's Nicole Koehler finished in second place with a time of 32.66. Taft's Kari Bailey finished in third place with a time of 33.55. Steinmetz Briana Robertson finished in fourth place with a time of 34.34. Taft's Holly Lewenowski finished in fifth place to complete the scoring with a time of 36.02.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 200m Dash, Mather's Stacey Powell won it with an outstanding time of 30.03. Steinmetz's Figueroa finished in second place with a time of 32.20. Steinmetz's Zakrzewska finished in third place with a time of 34.80.

In the Varsity 4x400m Relay, Mather won it with an outstanding time of 4:34.91. Northside finished in second place with a time of 4:57.01. Steinmetz finished in third place with a time of 5:18.65.

In the Junior Varsity Girls 4x400m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 5:44.50.

In the Sophomore-Freshman Girls 4x400m Relay, Steinmetz won it with a time of 5:44.50.
