Mary Shelus breaks school record in 800m run! 4x100m and Weightwomens Relay break school Records! Ani Zotti Wins 3200m! Rachel Kittaka wins 1600m!

On Saturday, April 21, 2007, the Northside Varsity Womens Track & Field Team traveled to Eckersal Stadium for the Ed Key Invitational. The meet features over 20 schools, and the Mustangs placed fourth overall, and broke FIVE school records in the meet!!!!! In the Discus, Kaitlin Renkosiak WON and BROKE THE SCHOOL RECORD with a throw of 75'10. Kelly Varney placed third overall with a throw of 71'9. In the Shot Put, Kaitlin Renkosiak placed sixth overall with a throw of 24'2.5. Kelly Varney placed ninth overall with a throw of 23'04. In the Long Jump, Maria Torres jumped 13'7. Julie Bujnowski jumped 12'11. In the High Jump, Jennifer Friedman jummped a personal best 3'10 to place eighth overall. Alex Custer had three quality attempts at 3'8. In the Triple Jump, Maria Torres placed second overall with a jump of 32'9. Maria Zdunek did not show up to the meet. In the 3200m run, Ani Zotti WON it with a personal best time of 12:43 (6:14/6:29). Anna Parks placed third overall with a personal best time of 12:48.2 (6:16/6:32.2). In the 4x100m Relay, Jennifer Kane ran a 14.07 100m split on the first leg of the relay. Maria Torres ran a 13.13 100m split on the second leg of the relay. Adaora Achufusi ran a 13.71 100m split on the third leg of the relay. Senior Natalie Hanigan anchored the Mustangs to a NEW SCHOOL RECORD with a 14.06 100m split, for a total time of 54.97. In the 4x800m Relay, Senior Mary Shelus ran a 2:34 800m split (73/81) on the first leg of the Relay, and made a nice exchange to Senior Amy Perez. Amy Perez ran a 2:45 personal best 800m split (75/90) on the second leg of the relay. Sophomore Jennifer Friedman ran a 2:58 personal best 800m split (84/94) on the third leg of the relay. Senior Julie Bujnowski anchored the Mustangs to FIRST PLACE with a 2:43 800m split(78/85), for a total time of 11:00. In the 100m Hurdles, Kelly Varney placed eighth with a time of 19.75. Jennifer Kane scratched from the Hurdles. In the 100m Dash, results will be posted as soon as the F.A.T. timing results are made available. In the 800m run, Senior Mary Shelus WON it and broke the SCHOOL RECORD with a personal best time of 2:30.81 (70/80). Sophomore Ani Zotti placed fifth overall with a time of 2:51 (84/87). In the Weightwomen's 4x100m Relay, Stephanie Sotomayor ran a 15.49 100m split on the first leg of the relay. Kaitlin Renkosiak ran a 14.82 100m split on the second leg of the relay. Adaora Achufusi ran a 13.45 100m split on the third leg of the relay. Kelly Varney anchored the Mutstangs to a NEW SCHOOL RECORD with a 13.60 100m split, and a total time of 57.36. In the 4x200m Relay, Natalie Hanigan ran a 29.14 200m split on the first leg of the relay. Jennifer Kane ran a 28.27 200m split on the second leg of the relay. Adaora Achufusi ran a 29.45 200m split on the third leg of the relay. Maria Torres anchored the Mustangs to sixth place, with a 29.72 200m split, for a total time of 1:56.58. In the 400m Dash, Julie Bujnowski ran a 67.02 to place third overall. Karen Li did not show up to the meet. In the 300m Hurdles, Senior Amy Perez broke the SCHOOL RECORD with a time of 55.03. Alex Custer ran a personal best time of 68.00. However, we are still waiting for official F.A.T. scoring in this event, and will post it as soon as it becomes available. In the 1600m Run, Captain Rachel Kittaka WON it, with an outstanding time of 5:42 (2:44/2:58). Jessica Galang ran a time of 7:20 (3:25/3:55). In the 200m Dash, results will be posted as soon as F.A.T. timing results are made available. In the 4x400m Relay, the Mustangs were disqualified for cutting in before the curve on the second leg of the relay. However, the Mustangs ran outstanding. Adaora Achufusi ran a 65.25 400m split on the first leg of the relay. Amy Perez ran a 69.66 400m split on the second leg of the relay. Rachel Kittaka ran a 74.14 400m split on the third leg of the relay. Julie Bujnowski ran a 68.13 400m split on the anchor leg of the relay for a total time of 4:37.18.
