In the 4x800m relay, the Mustangs were without Senior Brian Chhun due to an AP Exam, and had to use an alternate. The alternate came through big, and the Mustangs WON the prelims and BROKE THE SCHOOL RECORD by 7 seconds!!! Northside Junior Cuitlahuac Pineda Youniss ran the first 400m in 59 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 64 seconds for a 2:03.71 800m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Wesley Laytham anchored the Mustangs in heavy traffic, with lapped runners waiting to still make the final exchange, which clogged all eight lanes on the first 400m, forcing Laytham to slow down for the first 400m to 62 seconds and then Wesley Laytham broke free and ran the final 400m in 63 seconds for a personal best time of 2:05.07, to anchor the Mustangs to a victory with a new school record of 8:30.34!!!
