Posted by Jon Gordon on May 31 2016 at 05:00PM PDT

In 2016, CHARLIE GUTHMANN competed in the IHSA State Track & Field Championships in the 4x800m Relay.

Charlie Guthmann also earned a MEDAL in the 3200m run at the IHSA Sectional Track & Field championships. Guthmann is also the Mustangs Top Sophomore Cross Country runner for three miles.

After the IHSA Sectional Championship meet, Charlie Guthmann demonstrated outstanding work ethic by going straight to the Northside weight room to prepare for the next meet.

Leading up to the IHSA State Series, Guthmann had outstanding workouts, including eye-popping 400m repeats, which motivated the coaching staff to put him in the 4x800m Relay at STATE, and Guthmann delivered with a nine seconds drop in his 800m split at the IHSA State Track & Field Championships!!

From Freshman Year (2:36.06) to Sophomore Year (2:11.55), Charlie Guthmann has dropped 25 seconds in the 800m run!

Charlie Guthmann is a great athlete and is one of the cornerstones of the Northside 4x800m Relay.

With the development of Sophomores Jacob Yosowitz and Charlie Guthmann, the 4x800m Relay School Record will be within reach in 2017!

The 2016 Most Improved Sophomore athlete is Charlie Guthmann.
