Northside has BIG day at STATE FINALS!

 On Saturday, May 28, 2016, in Charleston, Illinois, at the IHSA State Track & Field Championships, the Northside Mustangs had a big day on the strength of outstanding performances in the 300m Hurdles and 1600m run.

 Northside posted victories over 20 Teams, among others, East Peoria, Glenbard South, L-Peru, Mascoutah, Matton, Olympia, Taylorville, Antioch, Reed-Custer, Monticello, Peoria Notre Dame, Rochester, Chicago Lindblom, Herrin, Benet Academy, Fenwick, Elmwood Park, Galena, Rich East, and Woodstick North.

 In the 1600m run, Danny Rosen placed seventh overall with an outstanding time of 4:25.96. In front of a capacity filled stadium, after the 1600m run, in a very nice ceremony, Danny Rosen was awarded a Medal for placing seventh overall and earning All State Honors. Rosen also ran a 4:23.20 in the 1600m Prelims on Friday to qualify for the Finals.

 In the 300m Hurdles, Justin Washington placed eighth overall with an outstanding time of 39.99. In front of a capacity filled stadium, after the 300m hurdles, in a very nice ceremony, Justin Washington was awarded a MEDAL for placing eighth overall and earning All State Honors. Washington also hurdled a 39.80 in the 300m Hurdle Prelims on Friday to qualify for the Finals.

 Northside Junior Kyle Friedler was scratched from the 3200m run. Friedler was hit by a car, a week prior to the State meet. Friedler ran a school record time of 9:32.27 this season. His school record, would have placed in the top 4 in the State.

 On Friday, May 27, 2016, Chicago Northside College Prep competed in the IHSA State Track & Field Prelims at O'Brien Stadium in Charleston, Illinois. The Top 12 athletes and relays advance to Finals in distance and field events. The Top 9 athletes and relays advance to finals in sprinting and hurdle events.

 In the Pole Vault, Northside Senior Brednan Powers came into the competition at a height of 12'3. Powers made three outstanding attempts, but was unable to clear it.

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Senior Philip Wdowiak ran a personal best 800m split of 2:02.78 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Junior Brian McManus ran an outstanding 800m split of 2:11.88 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Charlie Guthmann dropped 9 seconds for a personal best 800m split of 2:11.55 on the third leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Jacob Yosowitz ran an outstanding 800m split of 2:09.60 to anchor the Mustangs to an official time of 8:35.81.

 In the 4x100m Relay, Northside Sophomore Nick Brown, Freshman Osazee Osaghae, Senior Steven Kataba and Sophomore Guy Lahoua combined for an outstanding time of 45.21.

 In the 110m Hurdles, Northside Senior Garret Barch broke the school record with the tenth fastest time in Illinois with a 15.05. Northside Senior Justin Washington hurdled a personal best 15.61.

 In the 100m Dash, Northside Freshman Osazee Osaghae ran a personal best time of 11.36. It was the fastest time by a Freshman in the State!

 In the 800m run, Northside Junior Alex Ortiz had a BIG day! Alex Ortiz dropped 3 seconds (2:04.31) for a PERSONAL BEST time of 2:01.56. It was the fifth fastest 800m time in Northside history!

 In the 4x200m Relay, Northside Senior Keith Jones, Senior Steven Kataba, Sophomore Guy Lahoua, and Senior Philip Wdowiak combined for an outstanding time of 1:32.47.

 In the 300m Hurdles, Northside Senior Garret Barch had a great start, but was unable to finish the race after hitting his head on the ground after hitting a hurdle in the final 75m of the race. In the next heat, Northside Senior Justin Washington broke the school record to QUALIFY for the Finals with a personal best time of 39.80. Washington ran the fifth fastest time in the Prelims.

 In the 1600m run, Northside Senior Danny Rosen ran the third fastest time in the Prelims to QUALIFY for the Finals with an oustanding time of 4:23.20.

 In the 4x400m Relay, Northside Junior Jay Borgwardt, Senior Philip Wdowiak, Junior Jacob Yosowitz, and Junior Alex Ortiz combined for an official time of 3:49.63.

 The Northside Track & Field TEAM will be honored at the East Bank Club on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 5:15 pm.
