 On Saturday, May 7, 2016, the Northside Varsity Men and Sophomore Boys traveled to Hanson Stadium in Chicago, Illinois for the Chicago Public League Outdoor Championships.

 The Chicago Public League Championships is the largest conference meet in the Nation. A record 70 high schools competed in CPS Varsity Prelims and/or CPS Varsity Finals. 

 A year ago (2015), Northside finished in 11th place with 17.50 points.

 In 2016, the Chicago Northside Mustangs had one of their best TEAM performances in the history of the program.

 The Northside Varsity Men finished in fourth place with 46 points. The Northside Varsity scored a total of 46 points in the 4x800m Relay, 3200m run, 110m Hurdles, 4x200m Relay, 300m Hurdles, 1600m, and the 200m Dash. The Chicago Northside Mustangs almost tripled their score from a year ago. The Mustangs also came within a few points of third place.

 Morgan Park edged Whitney Young by three points to finish in first place! Congratulations to Morgan Park Head Coach Ryan Berba!

 The Northside Varsity Men had a record of 26-3 on the day, and posted victories over: 5. Urban Prep Englewood (40 Points), 6. Jones College Prep (36 points), 7. Wendell Phillips (32 points), 8. Kenwood (27 points), 9. Collins Academy (20 points), 10. Dunbar (19), 10. Perspective Charter (19 points), 12. Taft (18.5 points), 13. Lindbloom (18 points), 14. Prosser (16 points), 15. Steinmetz (15 points), 15. Orr (15 points), 17. Lake View (14 points - IHSA Sectional Opponent), 18. North Lawndale (12 points - IHSA Sectional Opponent), 19. Von Steuben (11.5 points), 20. Walter Payton (11 points), 21. Brooks (10 points), 21. Lincoln Park (10 points), 23. Mather (9 points), 24. Chicago Military (4 points), 25. Urban Prep Charter West (4 points - IHSA Sectional Opponent), 26. Marshall (3 points), 27. Kennedy (1 point), 27. Solorio Academy (1 point), and 29. South Shore (0.50 point).

  The Northside Chicago Mustangs will now combine their Varsity and Sophomore Teams to put Northside in a position to contend for the IHSA Sectional Title on May 18! Northside will also be seeking their ninth consecutive appearance at the IHSA State Track & Field Championships (May 26-28)!
