Porter Abbey finishes THIRD for Seniors in the King of the Quarter! Brendan Powers finishes THIRD for Juniors in the King of the Quarter!

 Two great athletes, Junior Brendan Powers, and Senior Porter Abbey toed the line in heat 12 of the Northside King of the Quarter competition.

 Junior Brendan Powers is the Mustangs top returning Pole Vaulter. Pole Vault requires the speed of a sprinter, and the strength of a thrower. In 2014, Brendan Powers racked up points, Medals, and Plaques for Northside by scoring in the Pole Vault with a 2nd place finish at the Bison Indoor Classic, 3rd place finishes at the Eric Nelson Classic, Dolphin Indoor Classic, and a 4th place finish at the Ostberg Sophomore Championships. Powers is also emerging as one of the Mustangs top sprinters this season. This year, Powers trains with the Northside sprinters everyday. Powers has a big future in all of the sprinting events.

 Senior Porter Abbey holds four school records, including the 400m Hurdles, High Hurdle Shuttle Relay, Low Hurdle Shuttle Relay, and the Triple Jump Relay. Porter Abbey competes in the 110m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. Abbey helped Northside win a Sophomore City Track Title, and an IHSA Sectional Title. Porter Abbey also qualified for the IHSA State Championships in the 4x400m Relay in 2013. Abbey has also earned three Varsity letters in Cross Country.  

 Northside Senior Porter Abbey finished in fourth place overall, and was the third fastest Senior at the King of the Quarter competition with an outstanding time of 57.68Porter Abbey dropped 0.70 of a second (58.38) from the 2014 King of the Quarter competition. Porter Abbey earned a Medal by placing third in the Senior division of King of the Quarter!

 Northside Junior Brendan Powers finished in sixth place overall, and was the third fastest Junior at the King of the Quarter competition with a PERSONAL BEST time of 58.68. Brendan Powers dropped 3.88 seconds (62.56) from the 2014 King of the Quarter competition. Brendan Powers earned a Medal by placing third in the Junior division of King of the Quarter.
