Malcolm Grba WINS Indoor City 800m run Title with a 2:01.79! Northside 4x200m Relay DROPS 3 seconds at Indoor City!!

 In the 800m run, Northside Junior Malcolm Grba dropped seven seconds (2:08.54) from the 2013 Indoor City Championships to WIN the 2014 Indoor City Title with an official time of 2:01.79. Malcolm Grba ran the first 200m in 26 seconds, and then ran the next 200m in 30 seconds for a 400m split of 56 seconds. Malcolm Grab then ran the next 200m in 32 seconds for a 600m split of 1:28. Northside Captain Malcolm Grba then ran the final 200m in 33.79 seconds to WIN the 800m run with an outstanding time of 2:01.79 ( 56.00 / 65.79 400m splits). Mather Senior Deivi Tahiraj finished in second place with an official time of 2:01.80. Whitney Young Junior Kevin Ma finished in third place with an official time of 2:06.50. Dunbar Junior Deandre Hall finished in fourth place with an official time of 2:09.63. Brooks Senior Malcolm Moore finished in fifth place with an official time of 2:10.37. Lincoln Park Junior Raymond Cho finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 2:13.65. Malcolm Grba was awarded a MEDAL for winning the Indoor City Title in the 800m run! Malcolm Grba will be competing in the Indoor State Championships in the 800m run on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

 In the 4x200m Relay, Northside came into the meet with a season best time of 1:44.89. Northside DROPPED 3 SECONDS to upset Simeon (1:44.14), Calumet Perspectives (1:45.87), and Lincoln Park (1:46.10) with an official time of 1:41.97. Northside Sophomore Steven Kataba ran an outstanding 200m split of 25.52 on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Sophomore Keith Jones. Keith Jones ran an impressive 200m split of 24.57 on the second leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Freshman Brandon Banas. Brandon Banas ran an outstanding 200m split of 25.15, and made a nice exchange to Junior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman. Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman anchored the Mustangs past Simeon with a 200m split of 26.09 for an official time of 1:41.97.
