Osborne WINS Triple Jump! Malcolm Grba (2:01.96) and Danny Rosen (2:02.34) finish 1-2 in the 800m!

 On February 28, 2014, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to the Unversity of Chicago's Henry Crown Field House in Chicago, Illinois for the University High George Washington Indoor Classic.

 The first President of the United States, George Washington was born on February 22, 1732. Almost 300 years later, his birthday was celebrated with a Track Meet at Henry Crown Field House. The meet featured 10 schools, including Mather, Lane Tech, Urban Prep, Johnson College Prep, Illiana Christian, Northside College Prep, Brooks, Kelly, Chicago Bulls College Prep, and host University High.

 Henry Crown Field house featured an athlete friendly atmosphere, upper deck seating, and the best 200m Indoor Track in Chicago. Henry Crown Field house has been the host to numerous National meets, and local Championship meets as well. The Varsity letter was invented in the1890s by Amos Alonzo Stagg as he was sitting on the entrance steps to Henry Crown Field house. The main wall of the stadium contains a list of field house records, which include several Olympians. The first Heisman Trophy winner (1935), Jay Berwanger is still listed on the all time list for Henry Crown Field house for the 55m dash. Henry Crown Field house is a Chicago landmark that is rich in Track & Field history.

 Individual Events and Relays were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

 One relay per school was scored, and all athletes entered in the individual events were also scored.

 Lane Tech won the meet with 165.50 points. Northside finished in SECOND place with 97 points, and posted victories over: 3. Mather (71 points), 4. Brooks (36.50 points), 5. Johnson College Prep (28 points), 6. University High (24 points), 7. Illiana Christian (21 points), 8. Urban Prep (20 points), 9. Chicago Bulls (10 points), and 10. Kelly (1 point). Northside had a record of 8-1 on the day!   

 In the Long Jump Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in third place with an outstanding jump of 17'11.50. Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in sixth place with an outstanding jump of 17'2. Northside Freshman Brandon Banas had a big day, and improved 1'03.25 (15'4.50) with a personal best jump of 16'7.75. Northside Freshman Artur Kozlowski also had a big day, and improved 1'05 (14'6.50) with a personal best jump of 15'11.50. Northside Freshman Brian McManus jumped an outstanding 15'1. Northside Sophomore Garret Barch jumped a personal best 15'1.

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Junior Matt Osborne WON it with a personal best jump of 39'6. Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in fourth place with an outstanding jump of 37'10. Northside Freshman Jack Nolan jumped an outstanding 26'6.50.
