 On Saturday, February 15, 2014, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Henry Crown Field house at the University of Chicago for the Whitney Young Varsity Indoor Classic.

 Henry Crown Field house featured an athlete friendly atmosphere, upper deck seating, and the best 200m Indoor Track in Chicago. Henry Crown Field house has been the host to numerous National meets, and local Championship meets as well. The Varsity letter was invented in the1890s by Amos Alonzo Stagg as he was sitting on the entrance steps to Henry Crown Field house. The main wall of the stadium contains a list of field house records, which include several Olympians. The first Heisman Trophy winner (1935), Jay Berwanger is still listed on the all time list for Henry Crown Field house for the 55m dash. Henry Crown Field house is a Chicago landmark that is rich in Track & Field history.

  The Whitney Young Varsity Indoor Classic at Henry Crown Field house, featured St. Ignatius (finished 4th at the Class 3A IHSA State Track & Field Championships in 2013), Marshall, Kenwood Academy, Walter Payton, Northside College Prep, and host Whitney Young. The meet was complete with FAT timing. A special thanks to Whitney Young for hosting an outstanding meet.

 St. Ignatius won the meet with 121 points. Whitney Young finished in second place with 111 points. Northside finished in third place with 90.50 points. Walter Payton finished in fourth place with 67 points. Kenwood finished in fifth palce with 50 points. Marshall finished in sixth place with 20.50 points.

 Northside competed against the Top two Teams (St. Ignatius, Whitney Young) in their 2014 Class 3A IHSA Sectional and had a very BIG day.

 Individual points were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-4-2-1. Relays were scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-4-2.

 In the Pole Vault, Whitney Young Junior Josh Terry won it with a vault of 9'6. Northside Senior Jay Yu finished in second place with a vault of 8'6. Northside Sophomore Brendan Powers finished in third place with a personal best vault of 7'6. Northside Junior Declan Galleher finished in fourth place with a personal best vault of 6'0.

 In the Shot Put, Walter Payton Senior Alex Shields won it with a throw of 43'8. Whitney Young Senior Peter Casey finished in second place with a throw of 40'9. St. Ignatius Senior Richard Podkowski finished in third place with a throw of 37'3. Kenwood Freshman Nicolas Williams finished in fourth place with a throw of 36'10. Whitney Young Sophomore Greg Franklin finished in fifth place with a throw of 36'05. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 34'10. Northside Senior Henry Lothschutz had an outstanding throw of 30'11.

 In the Long Jump, Marshall Junior Brandon Freeman won it with a jump of 18'9. St. Ignatius Senior Sheldon Pierce finished in second place with a jump of 18'1. Whitney Young Senior Triston Wilson finished in third place with a jump of 17'11.25. St. Ignatius Senior Enyi Asonye finished in fourth place with a jump of 17'02.75. St. Ignatius Rashaan Castillo finished in fifth place with a jump of 16'4.50. Northside Sophomore Piotr Wojcik finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a personal best jump of 15'6.50. Northside Freshman Artur Kozlowski had an outstanding jump of 13'10.

 In the Triple Jump, St. Ignatius Senior Sheldon Pierce won it with a jump of 41'6. Kenwood Senior Rhomel Fields finished in second place with a jump of 39'9.50. Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in third place with an outstanding jump of 39'3.50. Kenwood Junior Michael Ross finished in fourth place with a jump of 38'10. St. Ignatius Sophomore Shawn Trimble finished in fifth place with a jump of 36'9.25. Whitney Young Senior Triston Wilson finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 36'1.50. Northside Sophomore Piotr Wojcik jumped a personal best 26'4.50. Northside Freshman Jack Nolan jumped 26'3.75.
