In the IHSA Sectional 200m Dash Finals, Urban Prep Junior Jeffrey Allgood (23.01), and Marshall Senior Jeremiah Westbrooks (23.18) upset the defending State Champion, Kelvyn Park Senior Jamal McNeeley (23.34) to QUALIFY for the IHSA State Championships.  Northside was #3 seed (3:46.27), behind #2 ranked Prosser (3:43.54), and #1 ranked Norridge Ridgewood (3:42.84), going into the IHSA Sectional 4x400m Relay. Northside knew they were going to have to break the 3:40 barrier to qualify for State in the 4x400m Relay. There best time this season was a 3:46.27. Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon chose Matt Osborne, Simon Kafka, Malcolm Grba, and Tom Frejowski for the challenge.

In the IHSA Sectional 4x400m Relay, Chicago Prosser Junior Kwan Brown took the lead on the first leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne ran toe to toe with Ridgewood Freshman Adam Bonifaciuk with a 400m split of 56.08, and made a nice exchange to Junior Simon Kafka. Malcolm Grba ran a personal best 54.19 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Sophomore Tom Frejowski. As soon as the final exchange was made, everyone in the stadium knew that there was no way that Frejowski was going to be caught, and that Mustangs were going to State!!!, and the only question that remained was whether Frejowski would catch Prosser Freshman Deondre McNeal. Chicago Prosser was able to hang-on for Victory by less than a tenth of a second with an official time of 3:39.48. Tom Frejowski anchored the Mustangs to SECOND place to QUALIFY for the IHSA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS with an impressive 52.12 400m split for an official time of 3:39.57.
