WOW! Northside upsets the defending Indoor City Champions, Calumet Perspectives, 147-106! to WIN the St. Viator Invitational!!

 On Saturday, March 30, 2013, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Palatine, Illinois for the St. Viator Inviational at Harper College.

 The meet featured Prosser, Guerin Prep, Perspectives Math and Science, Immaculate Conception, Northside College Prep, Calumet Perspectives Charter (2013 Indoor City Champions), and host St. Viator. 

 The St. Viator Invitational was scored on the following point scale for individual events: 10-8-6-4-2-1 and 10-8-6-4-2 for Relays. Gold Medals were awarded for first place. Silver Medals were awarded for second place. Bronze Medals were awarded for third place.

  Northside came into the meet with a lot of momentum, after upsetting Chicago Leo, the 2012 IHSA State Track & Field Championships, at the Eric Nelson Classic, by a score of 198-167.

 Calumet Perspectives Charter still came into the meet as the favorites, after winning the Indoor City Title by 25 points over Northside.

 The Northside Varsity Men had a HUGE day, and upset Calumet Perspectives Charter by a score of 147 to 106 to WIN the St.Viator Invitational. Northside had a 41 points margin of victory over Calumet Perspectives Charter. The depth and strength of the Mustangs showed at the St. Viator Invitational. 

 The Northside Varsity Men WON the St. Viator Invitational with 147 points, and posted victories over: 2. St. Viator (123 points), 3. Calumet Perspectives Charter (106 points), 4. Immaculate Conception (58 points), 5. Prosser (47 points), 6. Perspectices Math and Science (15 points), and 7. Guerin Prep (8 points).

 Northside was awarded a towering Team Trophy for winning the St.Viator Invitational, and also brought home a record number of Medals.

 Northside had a record of 6-0 on the day, and now have an Outdoor season record of 12-0! It is the best record in the history of the program.

 In the Varsity Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter finished in fourth place with an outstanding throw of 36'2. Northside Senior Kapil Garg finished in sixth place with an outstanding throw of 31'7.5. Northside Sophomore Tom Frejowski finished in eighth place with a personal best throw of 30'10.

 In the Sophomore-Freshman Shot Put, Northside Freshman Matthew Gomez finished in second place with a throw of 17'0.

 In the Varsity Discus, the Dicus Cage was located one mile from the Harper College Track, and athletes were transported by van to the throwing competition. Northside Sophomore Malcolm Grba was able to get one throw in before having to return to the Track for the 800m run, and finished in THIRD place with an outstanding throw of 90'6. Malcolm Grba was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. Northside Senior Kapil Garg finished in fifth place with a personal best throw of 82'5. Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter threw an outstanding 67'0.

 In the Long Jump, Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey finished in SECOND place with a jump of 16'9.25. Porter Abbey was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in second place overall. Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne finished in fourth place with a jump of 15'5.4

 In the Triple Jump, Northside Sophomore Porter Abbey finished in SECOND place with a jump of 38'0. Porter Abbey was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in second place overall. Northside Sophomore Matt Osborne finished in THIRD place with a jump of 36'2. Matt Osborne was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in THIRD place overall.

 In the Pole Vault, Northside scratched.  

 In the High Jump, Northside Sophomore Ari Perlmutter finished in SECOND place with a leap of 5'4. Ari Perlmutter was awarded a MEDAL for finishing in second place overall. Indoor City Champion Chris Randolph (6'3) passed on every height, until the bar was at 5'10. Randolph made three outstanding attempts at 5'10, and did not clear it. Randolph did not clear a height in the meet.
