The Northside Men's Track & Field Team spent Abraham Lincoln's Birthday preparing for the Spartan Indoor Classic, which features, Central Suburban league powers, Maine West, Highland Park, and host Glenbrook North.

The Northside Track Team has been working hard in preparation for this meet. The Northside distance runners have been running hills, and running to the Chicago Lakefront and back. On Tuesday, Northside Distance runners arrived at practice at 8 am to celebrate Abraham Lincoln's birthday by running a total of 4.1 miles to IHOP for Breakfast, as their pre-meet run.

After a mile warm-up, and stretches, the Northside distance runners and Assistant Coach Dan Carlson ran from Northside College Prep to IHOP for Breakfast. Athletes favorites included the Colorado Omelette, Waffles, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, and Orange Juice. All of the athletes were able to finish their plates, which proved they have trained hard, in preparation for the Spartan Indoor Classic on Wednesday. All expenses were 100% paid by Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon.

The Northside Sprinters have also been working hard in the hallways, weight room, and on the staircases in preparation for the Spartan Indoor Classic. Northside Sprints Coach Mark Morgan has this event group looking fantastic.

The Northside Jumpers and hurdlers have been training for long hours in the hallways, weight room, and having been using the High Jump Pit in the gymnasium, school atriums, and the hurdles in the hallways. This event group has been amazing under Northside Hurdles and Jumps Coach Ed Wallace.

The Northside Pole Vaulters have been training for long hours in the evenings and weekends. In addition, to vault practice in the pit, and the hallways, the vaulters have been training hard in the weight room, and have even been doing gymnastics in preparation for the meet. The Northside Vaulters are closing in on the school record under the guidiance of Northside Pole Vault Coach Daniel Turvey.

The Northside throwers have been throwing in the school atriums, and have also been working hard in the weight room. Northside throws coach Carmen Acevedo has the Mustang throwers at new personal records every meet.

The Northside Track Team is ready for the challenge ahead of them at the Spartan Indoor Classic.
