Roosevelt Muhammed Chota WINS 3200m! Roosevelt Jeffrey Rector finishes Second in 3200m! Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino finishes third in 3200m!

 In the 3200m run, Roosevelt Senior Jeffrey Rector was the two-time defending Eric Nelson Classic Champion. However, with scheduled races in the 800m, 1600m, and 4x400m relay, Rector conserved energy, raced for points, and literly pushed teammate Muhammed Chota across the finish line.

 Roosevelt Junior Muhammed Chota won it with a personal best time of 11:11.4. Roosevelt Senior Jeffrey Rector slowed down at the end of the race, and pushed Chota with his hands across the finish line, and then Rector finished in second place with a time of 11:11.8. Northside Sophomore Cesar Rufino finished in third place with a time of 11:18.2. Cesar Rufino was awarded a bronze medal for finishing in third place. Northside Sophomore Nate Mendez finished in fourth place with an outstanding time of 11:44.9. Nate Mendez was awarded a ribbon for finishing in fourth place. Taft Sophomore Bruce McCaffrey finished in fifth place with an outstanding time of 11:50.19. Northside Junior Brendan Kelly finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a personal best time of 11:54.75. Brendan Kelly was awarded a ribbon for finishing in sixth place.

 Northside Freshman Max McCoy dropped 44 seconds off his best two miles time (12:41) from cross country season with a personal best time of 11:57.37 to finish seventh overall. Max McCoy was also the fastest freshman in the 3200m run!!

 Roosevelt Junior Ardany Granillo finished in eighth place with an official time of 12:07.21. Roosevelt Junior Maurico Prado finished in ninth place with an official time of 12:07.51. Northside Junior Nick Hill finished in tenth place with an outstanding time of 12:39.34. CICS-Ellison Junior Joel Thompson finished in eleventh place with an official time of 12:48.15. Solorio Academy Freshman Ivan Diez finished in 12th place with an official time of 13:39.72. Solorio Academy Freshman Javier Martinez finished in 13th place with an official time of 14:38.18.

 In the 4x100m Relay, Kelvyn Park won it with an official time of 46.58. Urban Prep West finished in second place with an official time of 47.77. CICS-Ellison finsihed in third place with an official time of 47.98. Northside Sophomore Jay Yu, Freshman Connor Fulton, Freshman Calvin Kuhnen, and Freshman Elijah Hernandez combined for a time of 54.57 to place fourth overall. Yu, Fulton, Kuhnen, and Hernandez were awarded a ribbon for finishing in fourth place. Taft was disqualified by the IHSA official for an exchange zone violation. Roosevelt was disqualified by the Roosevelt Head Track Coach, after their second runner accidently collided with another team on the track. Roosevelt showed great sportsmanship by disqualifying their own team.
