Posted by Jon Gordon on Jan 08 2011 at 04:00PM PST

On November 8, 2010, Northside Head Track & Field Coach Gordon challenged the Northside distance runners to run 300 Miles this winter in 65 days, from November 8, 2010 to January 18, 2011.

Over two hundred log books were distributed, one to each member of the Team to attempt the challenge. Athletes were required to record their daily mileage, and email their weekly totals to the coaching staff.  It is one of the most difficult and toughest challenges in the sport.

Many Northside athletes have reached the 300 miles barrier in the winter, but no Northside athlete has ever reached the 400 miles barrier until now.

As of January 8, 2011, Captain Charlie Mesimore has run 421 Miles this winter, to become the first athlete in the history of Northside College Prep to run over 400 Miles for the winter!!!

A Northside Track & Field Registration meeting will take place this Friday, January 14, 2011, at 3:27 pm, in the Northside Cafeteria.

A Coaching Staff and Team Captains dinner will follow the Registration meeting, on Friday, Jauary 14, 2011, at 5:00 pm at La Brasa Roja Restaurant (3125 W. Montrose Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60625).
