On Satuday evening, March 20, 2010, the CPS Sports Administration released the seeds for ALL events for the 2010 Indoor City Championships, which will take place on Sunday, March 21, 2010.

The CPS Indoor City Championships is designed to determine a Champion, and there is an emphasis on competition as opposed to participation. All Teams enter their best athletes, and only get one entry per event per school.

There is a record number of entries this year, almost ten times the number of entries, compared to last year. This will be one of the largest Indoor City Championship meets in the history of Chicago.

Kenwood Academy is the favorite to win the Team Title. Kenwood Academy is the only Team that is seeded to score in almost every event.

The top mark in High Jump also belongs to Kenwood Academy's Brock Massie with a season best jump of 5'10. Northside Senior Hunter Speese is seeded second in the high jump competition with a season best jump of 5'8. Speese will have extra inspiration on Sunday.

Northside Alumni legend Eric Nelson has traveled all the way to Chicago to cheer on the TEAM on Sunday. Each day, when Northside athletes exit the locker room to head to Track practice, they pass by the Eric Nelson section of the School Trophy case. The trophy case contains Eric Nelson autographed Nike Throwing shoes, that he used to set his last school record in the Discus. The trophy case also contains photos of Eric Nelson breaking various meet records, school records, winning multiple city titles (2007-2009), and includes photos of Eric Nelson at Illinois Prep Top Times (2008 and 2009) and the IHSA State Championships (2008 and 2009).

Eric Nelson, among other honors, won four consecutive MVP Awards in Track & Field, at Northside College Prep from 2006-2009, and the Mustangs home meet, the Eric Nelson Track & Field Classic (April 24, 2010) is named after him.

Northside athletes always throw farther, jump higher, and run faster in his presence, and Eric Nelson will be at Henry Crown Field house on Sunday to help cheer on his former teammates.

Northside Hurdle school record holder, Hersh Perlmutter, is ranked among the top seeds in the 55m Hurdles along with Harper's Kalen Northern, Kenwood Academy's Keith Ross, and Urban Prep's Jamil Boldian.

Northside Captain Wesley Laytham, is ranked among the top seeds in the 800m run, along with Kenwood Academy's Omar Tall, and Lake View's Eduardo Chavez.

Northside Captain Cooper Eben, is ranked among the top seeds in the 1600m run, along with Payton's Jose Mora, Lake View's Oscar Medina, and Jones College Prep Freshman phenom Jamison Dale.

Northside Junior Erik Zuehlke, is ranked among the top seeds in the 3200m run, along with Kenwood Academy's Wilson Tan, Lincoln Park's Andrew Zotti, and Payton's Jonathan Kamel. Erik Zuehlke could be the Mustangs first Indoor City Champion in the 3200m run since Dan Kittaka won it in 2006.

It will be one of the most exciting Indoor meets in the history of the Chicago Public League, and could come down to the 4x400m Relay. The bus will leave for the 2010 Indoor City Championships at 2 pm.
