Northside Alumni legend Dan Kittaka visits Mustangs as Northside Prepares for the Indoor City Championships!

 On Tuesday, March 16, 2010, Northside Alumni legend Dan Kittaka visited the Northside Mustangs at River Park Track, and shared words of wisdom with the TEAM, as the Northside Mustangs prepared for the 2010 Indoor Chicago Public School Championships!

 Dan Kittaka was a former Captain of the Northside Cross Country and Track Teams, and a 2006 Patrick J. O'Connor Leadership Award Winner. He graduated from Northside College Prep in 2006. 

 In June 2007, Dan Kittaka was chosen from thousands of college Freshman applicants across the Nation, by the United States Olympic Committee, for demonstrating the pusuit of excellence with his achievments in academics, sports, leadership, and community service. Dan Kittaka was chosen by the United States Olympic Committee to attend a Leadership conference with the Nation's best business and athletic leaders. In August 2007, Dan Kittaka was flown for "free", to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as part of a Leadership Conference, which featured, among others, Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills. Most recently, Dan Kittaka was one of the top finishers in a race up the John Hancock Building, covering over 94 floors. Dan Kittaka graduated from the University of Illinois, in only three years.

 After addressing the TEAM, Dan Kittaka ran with the Northside Varsity Distance runners, as they prepared for the 2010 Indoor Chicago Public School Championships!

 Northside College Prep is a member of the CPS Conference. The CPS Conference hosts the largest indoor conference track meet in the State of Illinois. 

 The 2010 Indoor CPS Track & Field Championship Meet will take place on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at historic Henry Crown Field house. Henry Crown Field house features an NCAA 200m Track, with six lanes. Outside of Europe, Henry Crown Field house is the only Track in the United States with G-Flex surfacing. G-Flex Tracks are designed and built to the demands of the world's top athletes. 

 The meet will commence at 4 pm, and will include the following Teams: Ace Tech Charter, Agricultural Science, Austin Community High School, Bogan, Bowen, Calumet, Chicago Math & Science Academy, Chicago Vocational, CICS-Longwood, Corliss, Crane Tech Prep, Curie Metro, Du Sable, Dunbar, Fenger, Frederick Douglas Academy, Gage Park, Gwendolyn Brooks, Hancock, Harper, Hirsh Metro, Hubard, Harlan, Jones College Prep, Kelly, Kenwood Academy, King, Lake View, Lincoln Park, Little Village, Manley, Marshall, Simeon, Senn, North Lawndale, Northside College Prep, Orr Academy, Robeson, Payton, Prosser, Raby, South Shore, Taft, UIC College Prep, Uplift, Urban Prep, Von Steuben, and Wendell Phillips.

 The meet will be scored on the following point scale: 10-8-6-4-2-1.

 Trophies will be awarded to the top two teams. Medals will be awarded to first through sixth place finishers of each event. In case of a tie in any event, the points will be split and the participants will flip for the medal.

  Northside College Prep Varsity entries have been posted under "Student of the Sport". The Indoor Sophomore-Freshman Championships will take place in Bensenville, Illinois at Fenton High School on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. 

 The bus will depart from Northside College Prep on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 2 pm, for Henry Crown Field House, at 5550 South University Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. 

 Spectators and fans are encouraged to arrive early to the meet, because the stadium is expected to fill to its capacity. A special thanks to CPS Track & Field Coordinator, Thomas Smith for organizing and hosting, the best indoor meet in Chicago, year after year.

 Athletes and/or relays that hit qualifying marks at the 2010 Indoor City Championships, will go to the Indoor State Meet (Illinois Prep Top Times) on Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Bloomington, Illinois.
