Adaora Achufusi places third in the 800m run with a 2:35.15 and runs a 65.82 400m! Katie Dugan third in Discus with throw of 69'00!
On Thursday, April 9, 2009, the Northside Varsity Womens Track & Field Team traveled to River Park Track in Chicago, Illinois for the 9th Annual Mather Invitational. The meet featured Steinmetz, South Shore, Roosevelt, Northside College Prep, Foreman, Von Steuben, Kennedy, Kelly, Fenger, Gage Park, Lakeview, Harlen, Schurz, Lincoln Park, Marshall, De LaSalle, Hyde Park, Lane Tech, Whitney Young, Payton, and host Mather.
Whitney Young won the meet with 172 points. Lane Tech finished in second place with 114 points. Mather finished in third place with 108 points. Harlen finished in fourth place with 43 points. Steinmetz finished in fifth place with 34 points. Fenger finished in sixth place with 32 points.
Northside finished in seventh place with 30 points, and posted victories over Von Steuben (28 points), Hyde Park (26 points), Gage Park (20 points), Lincoln Park (10 points), IHSA Sectional rival De LaSalle High School (8 points), Payton (8 points), Kennedy (6 points), Marshall (6 points), Kelly (5 points), Schurz (5 Points), Roosevelt (2 points), Foreman (1 point), Lake View (1 point), and South Shore (1 point).
In the Varsity High Jump, Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty finished in fourth place with a jump of 4'4. Robin Doherty was awarded a Medal for placing fourth overall.
In the Varsity Discus, Northside Sophomore Katie Dugan finished in third place overall with a personal best throw of 69'00. Katie Dugan was awarded a Medal for placing third overall.
In the Varsity Shot Put, Northside Sophomore Katie Dugan finished in 9th place with a throw of 26'11.00.
In the Varsity Long Jump, Northside Senior Gayatri Satam finished in 13th place with a jump of 12'01.75.
In the Varsity Triple Jump, Northside Senior Gayatri Satam finished in 9th place with an outstanding jump of 29'02.
In the Varsity 3200m run, Northside Senior Ani Zotti ran the first mile in 6:21, and then ran the second mile in 6:55 for an outstanding time of 13:16.99 to place sixth overall. Ani Zotti was awarded a Medal for placing sixth overall. Northside Freshman Yuwei Lei dropped 30 seconds off her PR, to finish 19th overall with a personal best time of 17:15.50.
In the 100m Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty fniished in 10th place overall with an outstandnig time of 21.08.
In the 800 Meter run, Whitney Young Junior Devyn Thompson won it with an outstanding time fo 2:19. Payton Senior Kat Molloy finished in second place with an outstanding time of 2:21.20. Northside Senior Adaora Achufusi finished in third place with an outstanding time of 2:35.15. Achufusi was awarded a Medal for placing third overall. Northside Senior Anna Parks finished in fourth place with a time of 2:37.04. Parks was awarded a Medal for placing fourth overall.
In the 300 Meter Hurdles, Northside Senior Maria Zdunek finished in 10th place overall with a time of 61.18. Northside Sophomore Robin Doherty finished in 11th place overall with a time of 65.34. Northside Senior Gayatri Satam finished in 13th place overall with a time of 68.68.
In the 400m Dash, Whitney Young Junior Raena Rhone won it with a time of 58.18. Hyde Park Sophomore Sharone Greenlaw finished in second place with a time of 61.68. Northside Sophomore Kellion Gordon finished in third place with a time of 63.71. Steinmetz Sophomore Takara Johnson finished in fourth place with a time of 64.07. Northside Senior Adaoara Achufusi finished in fifth place with a time of 65.82. Adaora Achufusi was awarded a Medal for placing fifth overall. Lane Tech Sophomore Nicole Jacobs finished in sixth place with a time of 66.07. Lane Tech Sophomore Imelda O'Connor finished in seventh place with a time of 66.28. Northside Senior Anna Parks completed the scoring by finishing in eighth place with a time of 66.66.
