Ten Northside Athletes will compete at the Indoor State Championships!
Ten Northside Athletes will compete in the Indoor State Championships (Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic) in Bloomington, Illinois on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Illinois Wesleyan University Shirk Center.
Senior Eric Nelson jumped the automatic qualifying standard (6'3) in the High Jump on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Niles West Wolves Indoor Classic with a season best jump of 6'5. Eric Nelson is currently ranked as one of the top athletes in the State.
The Mustangs have also been invited in the Men and Women Distance Medley Relay. The Distance Medley Relay consists of 1200m run, 400m run, 800m run, and the Mile.
Senior Ani Zotti (1200m), Junior Bessie Nolan (400m), Senior Adaora Achufusi (800m), and Senior Anna Parks (Mile) will compete for Northside Women in the Distance Medley Relay.
Sophomore Charlie Mesimore (1200m), Senior Eric Nelson (400m), Sophomore Wesley Laytham (800m), and Junior Cuitlahuac Pineda Youniss (Mile) will compete for the Northside Men in the Distance Medley Relay. Junior Steven Burke (Alt. 400m), and Junior Cooper Eben (Alt. 800/1200/Mile) will serve as alternates for the Mustangs.
The above ten athletes will leave for Bloomington, Illinois on Friday, March 27, 2009, and will be staying in luxury accomodations at Holiday Inn Suites, which is five minutes from the stadium. The athletes will be dining at the Olive Garden for dinner, and will have breakfast at the hotel on Saturday, March 28, 2009, before departing for the 2009 Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic.
The Indoor State Championships (Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic), takes place at the $15 million Shirk center on Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Bloomington, Illinois. The Shirk center is two-levels, 135,344-square foot complex, which features a 200-meter track, and upper deck seating.
