Northside Track Parents Meeting, Thursday, January 22, 2009, 6:30 pm - Mustangs to host home meet in 2009!
On Thursday, January 22, 2009, at 6:30 pm in the Northside College Prep cafeteria, the Northside Track & Field Parents will have their first meeting of the year. Shrimp Cocktail, BBQ Meatballs, Fresh Fruit, and drinks will be provided.
This meeting will provide the Northside parents an oppotunity to meet the largest Track & Field coaching staff in Illinois, learn about exiting plans for the Northside Track program, season outlook, the college recruiting process, proper running shoes,Team/Parent Tailgate Partys, Team Pasta Partys and more!
This meeting will also help us find volunteers to help with the FIRST home Track Meet in Northside history, the Mustang Classic, which will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2009. The meet will feature three divisions (Varsity, J.V., Sophomore/Freshman), with unlimited entries in the Junior Varsity division, and four entries per event in the Varsity and Sophomore/Freshman divisions. Awards will be given for all divisions. We currently need 16 timers and 7 score keepers.
Former Mather Track star Chris Wilhite will be at the meeting to talk about the importance of proper running shoes and racing spikes, and will have shoes available for purchase.
On Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at 7 pm, prior to the Mustangs first meet of the season, Universal Sole will host a pizza party for Northside Athletes and parents. Universal Sole is located at 3052 N. Lincoln in Chicago, Illinois 60657 and specializes in Track & Field shoes. Universal Sole was recently purchased by former Indiana University Track Star, Joel Feinberg, who was also a High School teammate of Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon at Glenbrook North High School in 1989-1990. Universal Sole will provide a discount to Northside athletes, and are highly recommended.
