Cuitlahuac Pineda Youniss runs 10:09.29 two mile to WIN heat one at IHSA Sectional Championships! Jonathan Kittaka 10:30.77 to place 3rd in heat one!

 On Friday, May 16, 2008, the Northside Varsity Track & Field Team traveled to Deerfield, Illinois for the IHSA Sectional Championships at Deerfield High School.

 In the 4x800m Relay, Northside Senior Preston Buehrer ran a season best 2:23.52 800m split on the first leg of the Relay. Sophomore Jiasong Yang ran a season best 2:18.72 800m split on the second leg of the Relay. Sophomore Andrew Czyszczon ran a 2:27.75 800m split on the third leg of the Relay. Junior Brian Chhun anchored the Mustangs with a 2:24.99 800m split for a total time of 9:34.98 to place 12th overall.

  In heat one of the 3200m run, Northside Sophomore Cuitlahuac Pineda Youniss ran the first mile in 5:07, and the second mile in a negative split of 5:02 for a personal best time of 10:09.29 to WIN heat one of the IHSA Sectional Championships. Cuitlahuac Pineda Youniss dropped 16 seconds off his best time, and ran the second fastest time in Northside history. It was also faster than the State Qualifying time from, among others, the Chicago Prosser Sectional (10:15, Arroyo).  Northside Junior Jonathan Kittaka ran the first mile in 5:11, and the second mile in 5:19 for an outstanding time of 10:30.77 to place third in heat one of the 3200m run.

  In heat two of the 3200m run, Deerfield Senior Scott Friedlander won it with a 9:20.59 to qualify for the State Championships. New Trier Senior Michael Schmidt finished in second with a time of 9:24.50 to qualify for the State Championships.
