First Tri Valley Harrier Classic is history!
Despite a steady rain the entire day before, the first Tri Valley Harrier Classic - hosted by Amador Valley, Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley - was greeted with sunshine, mild temperatures and great racing action at Shadow Cliffs Park! Eight teams, one as far away as Fresno, faced off in grade division races over the three mile varsity course. Yes that's right - ALL participants raced the full three miles - many for the first time. While some Stangs had a touch of 'nerves' before their races, all toed the line and once the gun went off, handled the three mile course like pros! That's what happens when you've put in all that hard work.
Senior Chloe Wood ran away with the Girls Jr/Sr race, taking first place with a fantastic 19:43.5 clocking!
No team scores were formally kept, although Mr Huntsman's computer tallied the scores "as if". And the Mustangs performed very well on the day. Meet t-shirts were given like medals to the top 20 in each race, and MV grabbed their fair share. A list of shirt winners:
Girls Frosh/Soph Race: Nicole Aha, Anna Hoyt, Kimmy Abood and Kelly Peterson.
Boys Frosh/Soph Race: Amis Matulionis, Josh Smiley, Jake Erlick, Kevin Ho and Zach Chambers.
Girls Juniors/Seniors Race: Chloe Wood, Brett Zorich, Kaitlin Kelly, Renee Lau, Lauren Ho, Kim Chin, Alex D'Souza, Kirsten Ratliff and Taysa Bowers (wow - nearly 1/2 of the shirts in this race!)
Boys Jrs and Srs Race: Bhavik Kanzaria, Dustin Harris, Mike Roderick (3rd, 4th and 5th!), Clinton McAdams, Connor Donley and Alex Morris.
