LITTLE LEAGUE RULES CLINIC
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
FIELD MECHANIC CLINIC
Saturday, February 22nd
Time: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Location: Chollas Lake Little League
The clinic will be held at Chollas Lake Little League is located at 6005 College Grove Drive, San Diego, CA 92101. Lunch will be provided. Attendees will be instructed and drilled in umpire field and plate mechanics, game management and the philosophy of Little League Baseball and Softball. Wear comfortable field shoes and appropriate clothing. Each umpire should bring a plate mask with them. This Clinic is open to first 60 adults (18 years or older - NO EXCEPTIONS).

During this very special time of year, as we enjoy the company of family and
friends, I want to express my personal appreciation for the volunteer
leadership and personal commitment you provide to Little League.
Our program could not maintain its respected status as the leader in youth sports without you. At Little League International, we appreciate that you, our vital volunteers, are our foundation and we can never say thank you enough.
In a few days, Little League turns 75. Since its' beginning, generations of Little Leaguers, in communities and countries around the world, have utilized our program as a playground for learning leadership, self-worth and sportsmanship.
Much success was enjoyed by Little League in 2013, and we eagerly await our diamond anniversary to be celebrated by everyone in the Little League family. Many unique and exciting experiences are planned throughout 2014, especially on our official 75th Anniversary date - June 6.
Under the guidance and direction of Chairman Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour and the Little League International Board of Directors, a variety of initiatives were put into motion with designs on increasing opportunities for players to participate in Little League. These initiatives will continue through 2014 and beyond.
On the field, Little League International unveiled the Little League Baseball Intermediate (50/70) Division and played the new division's first World Series in Livermore, Calif.; Perth Metro Little League became the first team from Australia to play in the Little League Baseball World Series and the Czech Republic was represented in Williamsport, Pa., for the first time with Brno Little League's appearance; and Alpenrose Dairy Farm celebrated its 30th year as host of the Little League Softball® World Series.
Also in 2013, renovations were completed to the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum. On the 74th anniversary of the first Little League game, the World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store opened its doors to rave reviews.
On behalf of the millions of children who will be a part of the Little League experience in 2014, we humbly thank you for your service. This spirit of giving is a testament to the value of the Little League program, and it is the reason why we know many more wonderful memories and successes will come.
I want to thank you again for another great Little League year, and I send my warmest wishes to you and your families for a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.

Bishop's Knights New Year's Baseball Camp

The Bishop's Knight New Year's Baseball Camp will be held on January 2nd & 3rd at Bishop High School, located at 7607 La Jolla Blvd. La Jolla, CA 92037. The Baseball camp will be run by the Camp Director and Head Varsity Baseball Coach Joey Centanni. Assisting him will be Assistant Coach John Pecoraro along with a number of current and former college and professional baseball players. The headliner of the camp will be 1989 National League MVP Kevin Mitchell. The campers will be getting instruction from players that have gone through the system both athletically and academically.
Along with quality instruction, the kids and parents will get an opportunity to see the beautiful Bishop's Middle School and High School campus. At the end of the camp, we will take time to give the kids a tour of the campus. For any parents that are interested, we will have a short Q & A about the process of getting into The Bishop's School.
As we look forward to the upcoming Spring season, we would like to get you familiar with the Bishop's coaching staff and take advantage of a great opportunity to see a beautiful campus with amazing academic and athletic opportunities.

I would like to address the clinic requirements for any District 33 Tournament. Every league is required to submit an approved safety plan to Little League and a required element of that safety plan is the attendance of clinics. Each team will need to meet that requirement in order to participate in any of our District Tournaments.
The requirement is that all coaches and managers in our District are required to attend both a District Approved Coaches Skills and Emergency Management Safety clinic every three years in order to participate in any District Tournament. One manager and/or coach per team must attend two required clinics for the current year (may be different coaches on the team (person for each). The first clinic is one that teaches skills such as the Big Al Clinic. The second clinic is a safety clinic. At least once every three years coaches/managers are required to attend these clinics. In other words, on a coaching staff of three, each individual will have had to attend each type of clinic for the upcoming season or the past two years in any three year period counting from the current season. And each of the two clinics will have had to be attended by a team coach or manager for this current season (2016). For example, the current season is 2016 and the past two years are 2015 and 2014.
There are two requirements for clinic attendance:
1) Every team that participates in any District 33 Tournament will have their league’s team entry checked to make sure that the individual coaches meet the requirements stated above.
2) Each league will have to reach a minimum of 50% attendance for those divisions that do not send their teams to District 33 Tournaments (i.e. t-ball and lower minor coaches and managers).
Steve Taylor, District Safety Officer, will be compiling a list of all the attendees from District approved clinics for the year to our master list. He will be doing this until the deadline on April 1st. Please check our Clinic Attendance for your name so you know where you stand. Make sure you are on the tab on the bottom of the list for the current year.

We will be checking each team’s coaches against this list for the DDM, Clay Berry Invitational (CBI), 90’ Junior and season ending TOC. If you notice errors or omissions, please contact Clay Berry and Steve Taylor well before you get to the field. If you cannot prove that you fulfilled these requirements, you will be disqualified from participation with your team or your team will be disqualified after their first game of the District Tournament. The players should not be punished- if the manager or any coaches are not qualified by clinic attendance any or all staff may be replaced by a league’s coaches that do qualify. District Requirements for Hosting a League Skills and/or Safety Clinic
1) A minimum of 14 days notice to the District Administrator, Clay Berry at llcad33@yahoo.com of league hosted fundamentals and safety clinics. Also at the same time, notify Steve Taylor, District Safety Officer, at llcad33.safetyofficer.stevetaylor@gmail.com of your plans for hosting a Safety Clinic or Danyell DiLena, District Coach Coordinator, at danyelldilena@gmail.com for hosting a Fundamentals Clinic. Give the type of clinic (fundamentals or safety or both) date, time, location and qualifications of the person(s) leading the clinic. This gives us time to notify LL Int'l of the clinic dates, review the qualifications of the person(s) leading the clinic, notify other leagues of the clinic and the opportunity to send a district representative to verify the clinic occurred and do a head count.
2) A sign-in sheet showing the name of the host league, clinic leader(s) date and type of clinic, location, printed first and last names, division and league. Downloadable example in District Handouts link on this website. You can modify the header to make it your own by clicking in each section.
3) An outline of the skills demonstrated for the Skills Clinic. Safety/EM power point and set of notes available in District Handouts link on this website. You should follow the handouts even if you do not use the ppt for league-hosted Safety Clinics.
4) As a courtesy, an invitation to other league's presidents to send participants (with an expectation of advance notice back so you can anticipate them), cc'd to Clay Berry and Steve Taylor. Steve Taylor will generate this email notice once the clinic is approved- sufficient advance notice, qualified presenter(s)...
5) 3 days after clinic was held: Notice to Clay Berry, Steve Taylor and Tom Anglim of the clinic attendees via email - Date, Type of clinic, Presenter(s), Participants, Division and sorted by league they represent. It is helpful if this is put onto an excel spreadsheet. As soon as possible, snail mail or email a scanned copy of the actual sign-in sheet to Steve Taylor, District Safety Officer. Records will be kept of emails identifying clinic participants along with copies of the sign-in sheets for each clinic.

Important Rule Changes for the 2014 Little League® Season
As we enter into the 75th year of Little League, we want to advise you of several important changes to the rules and regulations that you'll see in the 2014 Little League® Rulebooks. We hope that these changes help make your entire season a successful one, and we look forward to celebrating our Diamond Anniversary with you throughout the year.
Residency and School Attendance Eligibility
In an effort to accommodate for Little Leaguers to play with their classmates, and ease the burden on parents and guardians, Little League has amended its residency requirements to allow children to play in the local league whose boundaries where they attend school is located. To verify enrollment, parents will need to bring an official school document, such as a report card or school enrollment form, confirming enrollment in the school for the current academic year, dated before October 1, 2013. "Little League is always looking for more ways to give all children the opportunity to have the best Little League experience possible," said Patrick Wilson, Little League Senior Vice President of Operations and Program Development. "This new rule will provide more flexibility for families to participate in the leagues that best fits their children."
Retaining Birth Certificates for Tournament Eligibility Affidavit
To streamline the tournament eligibility affidavit process, all birth certificates will be returned to parents after the District Administrator approves a team's affidavit. Team managers will no longer be required to carry the birth certificates with the affidavit throughout the tournament season. Read the full text of the new rule here.
"While it is important as ever to ensure that all our tournaments are played fairly and competitively, we believe that this will make our tournament process run smoother, and allows parents to retain these sensitive documents," said Mr. Wilson.
Financial Responsibility for Tournament Travel
For those United States teams advancing through the International Tournament, Little League has amended the financial responsibility for those driving to tournaments. In 2014, all U.S. teams traveling 150 miles or more per one round trip to Section tournaments and beyond will be eligible to receive compensation to defray their travel expenses. These U.S. teams will be eligible to be reimbursed $1 per mile. Read the full text of the new rule here.
