Reese goes 3-0 for the Friday night Patriots making up their rained-out Sunday schedule.   So while the Meridians get their second week in row washed out, Reese stays sharp on the hill with his second Complete Game in two weeks.   Soto adds 2 hits and an RBI to the cause. image

Saturday surplus turns into a Sunday shuffle

Posted by Mike Soto at Jun 5, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

We have 12 guys ready to go Saturday night, but find only 7 at the field on Sunday with two call offs, one "no ride" and one "I'm sick" (that one comes 5 minutes after the scheduled game time).   The shuffle finds us with a deck off of the Dodgers bench to fill our holes.   Our pitcher then goes down running to 1st in the 1st inning so then we're at 6 of our own.   We do start the scoring right away and keep it somehwat close for awhile, but end up cruising to a 13-3 victory in 7 innings.   Kraus gets the Win.   Daniel "Hambone" Hamilton gets the Silver Slugger for the day while amazing us all by sliding on his back into 2nd...

Thanks to the 5 Meridians who did make it out and the last-minute subs.

Friday night lights

Posted by Mike Soto at Jun 4, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Members of the Meridians lend a helping hand Friday night to the Patriots club making up a rained out game.   Derek Reese gets the Win in relief going the final 2 innings, walking twice at the plate.  Ryan (BB) and RJ (double, BB) shore up the middle infield and Soto (2 BBs also) spends time at each corner.   Patriots outlast a young, spirited Oak Hills/Elder team (Cincinnati Brew Crew) in extra innings.
