Not again... Meridians find themselves down by 4 again in the 7th, but no rally magic this time as we fall in Soto's last game of the year. Wilder pitches well through 5 and empties the tank, Reese has a quick 6th. Kraus and Lewis with our only RBI's.
2 weeks of walk-offs
Not much life through 6 innings and only 2 runs vs. their 6, but we score 5 (all with two outs) in the bottom of the 7th with 3 walks, 1 error and 4 hits to end it in exciting fashion.
Kraus battles the first 5 innings and newcomer Miguel Aurich gets called into action in his Meridians debut to get the vulture Win. The offense was led by Kraus who was on base all day with 3 walks and the walk-off knock. Multi-hit days for Lewis, Soto and Shumar (triple! with a thudding, somewhat acrobatic slide) while Ricketts, Reese, Ehrhardt (key 2B in the 6th) and Baird (2 RBI 2B in the 7th) all reach base twice. Reese fights the heavy heat nicely behind the dish while Shumar proves McClung wrong by showing off his outfield skill. A handful of hard shots to Soto on the hot corner with two runners cut down at the plate.
Kraus walks to start the bottom of the 7th followed by a line-drive single by Reese, 2 outs later though - they're still at 1st and 2nd. Soto shoots one through the left side to load the bases. Ehrhardt chops one that the 3rd baseman can't handle and Baird lines a double down the line to plate 2. Aurich and Ricketts both draw walks and Kraus gets back up and delivers the game-winner on a looper to left scoring Baird.
