Utilizing a highly balanced strong effort from their entire team, Old Gold defeated the Illinois Titans to win the championship of the P.E.P. Fall Classic at Chicago Whitney Young on Sunday evening.

Old Gold rolled through pool play undefeated, and then proceeded to defeat the 16-U Mac Irvin Fire and the Chicago Demons in the tournament ahead of knocking off the Titans by one point in the championship game.

Class of 2011 stars Derrick Marks (Plainfield Central) and Dominique Walls (Chicago Hales Franciscan) were terrific for Old Gold throughout the event. Marks, a 6'2" guard, was an offensive machine and scored the ball both with his jump shot, and also with drives to the hole. Walls, a 6'5" small forward, put his athleticism on full display, and was dominant on both ends of the floor.

Rashaun McGrew (Chicago Vocational), Aaron Armstead (Chicago Hales Franciscan), Aric Armstead (Chicago Hales Franciscan), Robert Hurd (Chicago Vocational), Aaron Hall (Tinley Park), Khalil Valentine (Chicago Vocational), Rodney Smith (Thornwood) and Frank Williams (Chicago Vocational) all also came up big en route to fueling Old Gold to their championship run.

The Illinois Spartans, led by Walter Lemon, defeated RBS to win the Silver Division title. NBU, led by Keith Carter (Proviso East), Derrick Randolph (Chicago Whitney Young), C.J. Jones (Chicago Orr), Jermaine Morgan (Chicago Whitney Young), and Trashaun Carroll (Proviso East) defeated the Evanston Basketball Club to win the Bronze Division championship.
