The Fury jumped out 2-0 in the first half. WCFC made a ferocious comeback and scored with 10 minutes to go in the second half. This was the first goal the Fury had allowed since before the Nor Cal State Cup. The Fury regained control and toughed it out for a 2-1 victory. Congratulations to the girls on an incredible week of soccer!!!

Mustang Fury Captures Title of 2008 State Cup Champion

Outlined against a blue- gray February sky, the Mustang fury rode again.......okay so I stole that from the opening line of Grantland Rice's famous story "The Four Horseman" of Notre Dame!  Nonetheless, the Mustang Fury capped off an amazing State Cup run by defeating their cross Bay rivals the MVLA Lightning in convincing fashion.  With the wind at their back in the first half, the Fury scored off a corner and then again right before half for a 2- 0 lead. The second half saw a lot of back and forth movement for the two teams with the Fury defense and middle presenting an impenetrable wall.  The Fury's possession game was as crisp as it has ever been against a top notch team. With neither team putting the ball in the net, the Fury prevailed with a solid 2- 0 win. With the State Cup win, the Fury is off to Hawaii in June for the Far West Regionals where they are predicted to do well. The championship game capped off a State Cup run that had the Fury scoring 24 goals and conceding none in 7 games. In the semi finals last week the fury eliminated the always tough Mustang Fury United 2-0 and the San Juan Spirits 3-0. In the round of 16 the Fury defeated the Mount Diablo Storm 4-0. Practice will resume at the end of March in preparation for the big trip to Hawaii.  Hats off to the MVLA Lightning on another great season.   Congratulations to all the Fury girls on an amazing season….so far!!!

Fury Is Triumphant At Blues Cup 2007!!!!

The mighty Fury saved their best performance for the last tournament of the summer by capturing the coveted Blues Cup Championship. In a weekend that not only provided some of the top competition in the Country but also 100+ heat, the Fury showed they are one of the nation's elite teams. To top it off, the Fury were down 2 players and a third would break her arm in the middle of the tournament. The fury opened bracket play with a well played tie over the reigning top dawg in So Cal "WCFC". The Fury responded with a sound 3-0 victory over the Force SC. In its final game of bracket play the Fury were tied by a surprisingly scrappy Utah SPARTA club. The Fury advanced as the 2 seed out of its bracket behind WCFC. In the quarters, the Fury overwhelmed the Las Vegas Premier team 2-0 in a dominating performance against a very good club. In the semis, the Fury controlled possession and scored early in the second half to edge out the always tough San Diego Surf. The finals pitted the Fury against WCFC. In a game with temperatures that reached 113, both exhausted teams fought hard and valiantly against each other and the heat. The Fury controlled possession for most of the game until WCFC put on a fierce attack in the final 10 minutes. The Fury's lone goal in the first half proved to be enough to emerge as Champions!

Fury Leaves the 2007 Surf Cup With a Disappointing Result

The Mustang Fury outshot their opponents in their brackets 53 -14 but only managed to convert on 2 of them. The Fury was clearly the strongest team in the bracket but did not advance based on the point system. After a slow start the Fury fell behind the Infinity from Cerritos (So Cal)and dropped the contest 1-0. They dominated all facets of the game against the Crossfire outshooting the Washington State Champs 30-1 but not finding the shot that would go in th net. The game ended in a dissapointing 0-0 tie. In the final game pairing the So Cal State Champs Delmar Sharks vs. the Fury, the Fury again dominated possesion and shots and managed to win 2-1. However, they needed a 2-0 or 3-1 victory to advance, thus it was time to head to the beach for a day of fun!

Fury Captures the San Ramon Valley Cup

In a tune up for Surf Cup, the Fury went unchallenged throughout the weekend racking up 19 goals and conceding none. The Fury matched up with the Santa Rosa Flash, San Juan Spirits (Silver), San Ramon Bellazure and the NV/San Jose Thunder in the final. This is the Fury's second Championship of the short summer season so far. The Fury will be departing for Surf Cup in San Diego on Friday.

Fury Repeats as Cal Cup Champions! 2007

The Fury outscored it's opponents 16-1 in 6 games en route to it's second straight Cal Cup Championship at Cherry Island this past weekend. The Fury opened up on Friday with a pair of 5-0 wins over Elk Grove and SCA. They completed bracket play with a 1-0 win over a surprising Modesto United team on Saturday morning. In the quarters, the Fury dominated action against a Santa Clara team who's only mission was to play the off side trap the whole game. Nonetheless, the Fury prevailed 1-0. In the semis against an always strong PAC team, PAC got on the board late in the first half with a goal to lead 1-0 at the break. Within minutes of the second half whistle, the Fury scored on a beautiful header from Alyssa off McKenna's direct kick. Erika followed up with a powerful goal to seal the win 2-1. In the final against a tough San Juan team, the Fury controlled possession throughout and won 2-0. The entire team played well all weekend against some of the top teams in Nor Cal.
