Woodinville Unleashes Offense on Monroe 13-2 in 2013 Opener

Posted by Rob OFarrell on Mar 13 2013 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 JV

Opening the season last night for the reigning 2012 4A State Champion Woodinville Lady Falcons at Monroe.  The Lady Falcons picked up where they left off last year putting up some big numbers while enjoying the shut-down pitching from Senior Madi Schreyer that took them all the way last year.

Getting things going in the top of the first was Sophmore Nicole Shavlik who battled a long at bat to finish with a roped line drive triple in the gap.  That got the Lady Falcons off and running with Madi topping it off with a 3 run homerun to deep right center.  In typical fashion the 4 runs in the first proved to be enough though our girls didn't stop there.

In the second inning the bats came alive again with runners on base, Sophmore Alyssa O'Farrell got in the action by drilling a 2 rbi double down the left field line to put the falcons up 6-1 when Junior Tori Lettus came through with a nice single to right to score Alyssa to make it 7-1.

Working around the plate didn't seem to work either as the Lady Falcons had the patience to draw 13 walks off of Monroe Senior starting pitcher Alyssa Eagan while pounding out 9 hits.   Madi Schreyer again topped it off with her 2nd homerun of the night in the 4th.

Madi had another great outing spraying 3 hits on 11 strikeouts for the evening.  With great pitching and relentless offense the girls were able to finish this one off by run-rule in the 5th inning up 13-2.

The Lady Falcons are off on a road trip this weekend to Wenatchee to play a double-header against Eastmont and Moses Lake on Saturday.
