Woodinville started and finished strong in 5 innings over Newport 10-0
On a beautiful night at WHS, the Lady Falcons were led by some great pitching by freshman Lauryn Rhinehart. She got a lot of help from the offense and defense to make it the girls first run-rule of the season.
The Lady Falcons bats started out hot with leadoff walks by Melanie Bell and Alena Jones. Then Alyssa OFarrell drove the first of two doubles on the evening down the left field line to get them off to a 1-0 lead. Kathryn Hatlen cleared the bases with a timely shot up the middle and the Lady Falcons were off to the races up 3-0. Sara Taketa got into the hit action as well and before the first inning was over we had batted through the order and our girls put up a 6 spot and never looked back. Kathryn and Sophomore Katie Kelly did some more damage with RBI hits in the 4th inning to push the score to 10-0.
Lauryn was solid on the mound going the distance in a 5 inning run-ruled game striking out 6 Newport batters along the way. There were some good defensive plays by Sara, Tori Lettus, Alena and Alyssa around the infield to keep Newport from getting anything going all evening.
