Madison County Touchdown Club sponsored the end of the Season Awards Banquet on Monday night, December 7. 
Below are listed the awards given and the players who won based on their performance for the 2009 Season.

Solo Tackles: 26, Assisted Tackles 36, Total Tackles 62, Fumbles Caused 1,
Fumbles Recovered: 1, Passes Broken Up 5, Interceptions 4
Best Linebacker – 2009 - #31 Kale Bodiford
Solo Tackles: 64, Assisted Tackles 37, Total Tackles 102, Fumbles Recovered 2, 
Passes Broken Up 1, Blocked Kicks 1
 
Best Defensive Lineman – 2009 - #52 Jeremiah Nesmith
Solo Tackles:  64, Assisted Tackles: 34, Sacks 10, Total Tackles 108,
Caused Fumbles: 3, Recovered Fumbles 1
 
Best Receiver – 2009 - #5  Patrick McCrary
Receptions: 21, Yds.: 423, TD’s 3 
Best Offensive Lineman – 2009 - # 58 John Gunnells
Had the highest winning grade average throughout the season.  Had the most knock down blocks
for the season.  Became the preferred guy to run behind in short yardage situations when we had
to have it.  Was our best pass blocker and was given the task of protecting our QB’s blind side on
passing downs.  Was chosen for game captain numerous times throughout the season because of
his leadership, work ethic, and consistent performance.
 
Best Offensive Back – 2009 - #13 Jacob Owens
Rushing:  Carries:  128, Yd’s: 174, TD’s: 9.  Passing:  Attempts 138,
Completions 63, TD’s 6, Yards 855.
Will continue his football career at the
                          
- United States Military Academy at West Point
 
Best Special Teams Player – 2009 - #6 Jamal Cooper
Kickoff returns 16, 485 Yards, Returns for TD 3, Kickoff return average of
30 yards per return.  Also played WR & RB.  Stats at RB:  Carries 74, Yards 259,
TD’s 1.  Stats at WR:  Receptions 17, Yards Receiving 232, TD’s 2.
Will continue his football career at
                             -Georgia Military College
 
Most Valuable Player – 2009 -  #1 Kendrick Butler    
Offense:  Played: Wide Receiver and Running Back.  He excelled at both. 
Stats at RB:  Rushing: Carries 52, Yards 428, TD’s 7, Avg yds per carry 8.2. 
Stats at WR:  Receptions 7, Yards 188, TD’s 2.   Defense:  Played CB & FS. 
Stats on Def.:  Solo Tackles 16, Assists 11, Total Tackles 27, 
Interceptions 1. Special Teams:  Was a key player on most of our special teams.
Kickoff returns 7, Total return yards 193, Kick return average 27.5
Leadership:  Was nominated for team game captain honors for numerous games
based on his game performance, work ethic on the practice field, and leadership example.

                           Scholar-Athlete Awards – 2009
     
These players have earned this award medal, which recognizes their commitment
    to excellence in the classroom as well as on the competitive athletic field, by
    maintaining an A average in the classroom and being ranked in the top 20% of
