Invaders Defeat Drunks 12-6

Posted by Larry Mills on May 13 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
The Invaders barely escaped with a 12-6 victory against the Drunks. Starting QB Michael Hawkins was unable to make the game, forcing Joseph Chaney into the starting role. Chaney stepped up to the challenge and guided the Invaders to a victory. The Drunks appeared to be taken by surprise with Chaney's quickness, agility and pinpoint passing. The team rallied around Chaney's heroics and played with aggression. The Invaders' scored first and went up 6-0, when Chaney hit WR Matthew Anderson on a 25 curl, after eluding rushers and rolling right. The Invaders' defense, led by rushers Lawrence Upson and Greg Kelly held the Drunks scoreless in the first half. The Invaders' went up 12-0, when Chaney hit WR Taurus McGhee with a 60 yard bomb. The Drunks were able to cut the lead to 12-6, when they scored from 40 yards off of a dig route. The Invaders' defense stiffened and held the Drunks scoreless for the rest of the game. Chaney also intercepted a pass.
