Invaders Slip By Blue Steel 6-2

Posted by Larry Mills on May 13 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
The Invaders narrowly escaped with a 6-2 victory against the Blue Steel. The Blue Steel came out aggressively and held the Invaders scoreless until under 2 minutes. The Invaders gave up 2 points on a safety, when QB Joseph Chaney was narrowly sacked in the end zone. Even though the Invaders were unable to score, the defense continued to play excellently. With under 3 minutes left in the game, Michael Hawkins replaced Chaney at QB and led the Invaders on the winning drive. On 1st and 2 from the Invaders' 38 yard line, Hawkins hit WR Lawrence Upson with a perfect pass on a post route and Upson made a sensational fingertip catch to complete the spectacular 62 yard winning touchdown. Again, the Invaders showed their determination and guts. The victory launched the Invaders into first placed in the LECOP League with a 4-0 record.
